iPad Games

I prefer Games that challenge your intelligence a little. Although I have tried many of the game apps available, I prefer the Zynga Poker app for daily play. I play the play money version of Texas Hold Em. I started out with 4000 free chips and have played my way up to 10,000,000 chips. Generally, I play at least an hour a day. It’s fun and I get to play with real people from all over the world. The orientals play nearly every hand going “all in”,

iPad Notes App

iPad Notes App

I can hear you now, how can a senior citizen derive enjoyment from Notes on the iPad? I find that my creative juices flow better if I am sitting in my big boy recliner with my feet up and my iPad sitting on my stomach. So when I’m feeling like I want to generate something that might be worth sharing, I turn on the iPad and begin to write.

Music: Pandora App

I’ve tried many of the iPad radio apps and I prefer Pandora over the others. The app is free so you get a few advertisements with the music. The advertisements are not excessive. You can eliminate the advertisements if you choose to purchase the app for a small fee. I like mostly old classic country and older rock music. Pandora allows you to select your favorite artist such as “George Jones Radio” and it will play songs from that artist and other artists with similar style. Continue reading

Apple TV and Mirroring

Apple TV and Mirroring

Apple TV and Mirroring

The Mirroring feature of AirPlay allows you to project your iPad screen to the TV big screen through the Apple TV.  It essentially mirrors what on your screen. I’ve played with this some but have not really found mirroring to be one of my favorite iPad activities. I have projected games onto the big screen, Continue reading

Apple TV and AirPlay

AirPlay on the iPad allows you to stream videos and music directly from the iPad to your big screen TV and surround sound system through the Apple TV. One of my favorite things to do is to start the iCloud photos on a slideshow and start one of my country music playlists on Spotify ( to be discussed later) from the iPad and switch it to AirPlay.  This puts the music on the TV sound system. This puts my favorite photos and my favorite country music playing together. I grab a six pack

Apple TV and iCloud – Photos on the Big Screen

Apple TV gives you access to High Definition streaming from various apps available such as Netflix and many more directly to your big screen TV. You must have Wi Fi available to enable streaming through the Apple TV. The very small device is quite simple with only a 120 volt power cord and an HMDI cable which connects directly to an input connection on your TV.

Grizzly Bill

Grizzly Bill and Buffalo

Grizzly Bill

For fun, I dressed up like a frontiersman (Grizzly Bill) and took a picture of myself and shared it with my family on the iCloud. I got an almost immediate written comment back from my brother in law Bob ( we call him Buffalo).  This resulted in several days of back and forth colorful comments which was a lot of fun and was enjoyed by the whole family!

I love to create character doodles as a form of original art. I will share some of my characters to spice up the blog and maybe make it a little more interesting. I have enjoyed creating these characters since my early years. My friends and family seem to enjoy it and maybe you will too.

Christmas Poem 2013

Christmas Poem 2013

The enjoyment I have received from the iCloud is described more fully in the Christmas Poem 2013 I wrote. My wife and I have enjoyed more outings this year than we have since we were much younger!  Here’s a copy of the poem:

The iCloud – Connect with Photo Sharing

Photo sharing on the iCloud is one of my favorite features of the iPad. Both of my daughters have iPhones and iPads as do my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Both the iPad and iPhone have excellent cameras and any photos taken go to their camera roll. The iCloud allows you to instantly share selected photos to willing participants.
