At The Turn Of The Century

At The Turn Of The Century

.

I ran across an old file folder in our bookcase today,
There were some things in the file that Pam put away,
That brought back a few memories to share, if I may.
So I’ll write a little on another blog before I get too gray.

There was an old Christmas Letter I wrote in 1997,
As I read, it put me way out there in Hawg heaven.
I didn’t remember all the things
we did in that busy year.
So I’ll include a copy of that letter in my blog here.

Both girls were in college then and we were all clogging still,
With different groups all over the midwest if you will,
We also worked in Houston six months during the year.
I wonder how we got it all done and paid for my beer.

Tamara graduated from OSU in 1999 and a job did secure.
With SpotPlus in Dallas as an advertising agentĀ for sure.
I found a couple of eMails from then between her and I,
That were kind of strange as we acted silly then on the fly.

I found a Father’s Day card that Tamara made for me,
Letting her creative juices flow, just setting them free.
I loved that card that she created just for my personality,
That she knew back then would fit me like a tee.

There was a copy of a poem that Tamara did compose,
All about me after giving it much thought, I suppose.
She sent it to me in an eMail Pam kept until this day,
I think she captured the essence of old Billy Ray.

I guess we had to act up a little back in those times,
With all the bridges we were burning, running the line,
But looking back, I guess we made it through in good shape,
And it’s fun to look back at the good times we did make.
