The Summer Of 86
.
In 1986, we were settled in Bartlesville with the family,
Tamara was 10 and Kristi was 13, both so very lovely.
Summer was near and we were raring to have fun,
We started out fast and ended fast as we did run.

The Summer of 86
.
Just as school ended, Kristi received a special award,
For scholastic achievements she earned working hard.
We were proud parents watching her get her reward,
Now set for summer fun, we were all heading toward.
.
.
Pam and I booked a week at Fun Valley in Colorado,
On Wolf Creek Pass past South Fork five miles or so.
To square dance and have have fun with the girls,
There on the South Fork of Rio Grande, a real pearl.
.
.
We ate in the lodge with a huge grizzly bear there,
Wild horses were running loose around everywhere.
We took a four hour ride up the mountain on horseback,
The girls caught trout at $1.00 per inch, what a whack.
.
.
We then moved to Dad’s cabin near South Fork town,
For a week visiting family and friends getting down,
Rafting, fishing, hiking and building big camp fires.
The girls loved the great outdoors never getting too tired.
.
.
Back at home, teenager Kristi had a new boy friend.
Named Fred who’s family raised those pigs as a trend.
Kristi liked young Fred and his pigs during that summer,
Tamara liked the pigs, but not Fred, what a bummer.
.
We noticed that summer, Kristi liked posing for pictures,
She was so cute and really did look very good for sure.
Tamara was only 10 and hadn’t yet become so self aware,
But it wasn’t too long before she too arrived there.
.
We went to Grand Lake with the Mickey Mouse Gang,
For summer fun riding a big yellow tube like thing.
Tamara caught a big fish making her so very proud,
And we grilled steaks then danced out there getting loud.
.
Joe (Mickey Mouser) had a birthday party at his home,
On a weekend so fun even though we did not far roam.
The kids loved the trampoline and indoor pool so nice,
We drank a little beer by the pool to add a little spice.
.
.
In July, the girls went on a trip to Arkansas with the Bebees,
And their granddaughter, Kara, who was so lovely.
They went by my old stomping grounds in Sulphur Springs,
Then headed to see the big Christ at Eureka Springs.
.
.
When they got back, Tamara became a cheer leader,
For Ranch Heights foot ball team, all so very eager.
It appears they held the school banner a little too tight,
And tripped up the football team going out to fight.
.
.
Later on during this busy year, we had the 100 year storm,
Flooding Bartlesville with the Caney River way above norm.
Is it just me, or did Kristi pose in the two photos below.
She was so cute at that age loving her young life so.
.
.
The Summer of 86 was a real busy time for our family,
But come to think of it, I guess they all were, you see.
I’m so glad we did all we could do together back then,
To bond our family together with a love without end.
