The Love In Me

The Love In Me

I had a very hard time bringing my love to the surface at first,
Perhaps, because my Dad was at showing love the worst,
After I married Pam this all changed because she was great,
This poem tells the story of why my surface love bloomed late.

The Love In Me

Love has been defined as a strong feeling of affection and concern
Towards another person that also has these feelings in return.
The person may be a relative, a friend, or a spouse for all life.
Loved ones will always be with you in good times and strife.

My Mother and I loved each other dearly with open affection.
It was a love that was filled with kisses and hugs to perfection.
She held me close and rocked me to sleep singing good songs.
Making me feel all warm inside like nothing could ever go wrong.

My Dad was one of those guys that could never say “I love you,”
He wasn’t a hugger and only gave me a warm kiss a time or two.
But Dad didn’t have to say I love you, you just knew he did.
The tender care and his concern for me made me a happy kid.

My sister JerrylDine and I fought a lot when I was a young pup.
She won most fights, but under the surface love showed up.
We protected each other, and watched each other’s backs.
I would let no one get away with a planned JerrylDine attack.

My brother Craig and I had what you call that brotherly love.
He would push me, then I would give him a great big shove,
We did so much together when we were young, we grew a bond
That no one could break from here or from the great beyond.

When I met Pam, I was like my Dad about the words “I Love You.”
She mellowed me out and taught me how to show my love too.
Soon I was able to love on the surface as well as deep inside,
She became my soul mate for a life time of love I did not hide.

With daughters Kristi and Tamara, it was deep love at first sight,
These two little bundles of joy brought the love out of me to light.
The love flowed out of me out for every one to see as they grew,
And it continued to flow as they raised their own families too.

Now that we are older, some of the best love we have known,
Is love for our grandchildren from the seeds we have sewn.
This is open and happy love with lots of good hugs and kisses.
We see them every chance we can to give them our loving blisses.

Watching them grow from a distance away from the action,
Makes us feel their love more on sight, you should see our reaction.
We keep them every chance we get to spoil them as we should,
Our love for them continues to grow as we always knew it would.

Over the years we have loved family perhaps the most of all,
But we have many many friends that we have loved as I recall.
We grew so close that they essentially became our family too.
As you can see, Love may be shared with many people by you.
