South Fork 1975

South Fork 1975

.

In 1975, nearly all our immediate family went to South Fork,
In Colorado for a summer vacation to play and work.
We built onto Dad’s cabin to make it larger that year,
And Pam’s Mom and Dad bought a cabin so very near.

Pam and I stayed at her Mom and Dads new cabin,
To help initiate it that year and help break it on in.
We hauled water and food up there and got it all done,
So we then could help Dad finish his addition on the run.

The Washer’s stayed at Dad’s cabin that year so snug,
Including Pete, JerrylDine, Denise, Deborah, and Doug.
They had a camper to use until an addition was complete,
That they parked by the house just out of the street.

Craig was still single and stayed at Dad’s cabin too,
In two days Dad’s new addition was nearly all through,
All framed, sided, and roofed, ready to be moved into,
With just insulation and painting to be done later too.

In the top shot is Craig with a tool near the addition. In the middle shot, a happy Dad admires the addition. In the bottom shot, Mom carries a lawn chair, Pete looks at the addition, and Kristi looks on.

JerrylDine managed to elude the camera the whole trip,
But we got a shot of Pete pulling Deborah looking fit,
In that blue Rex Rocket Wagon with a blanket inside.
That we used to haul water up from the water well site.

We got a very nice picture of all the kids looking good,
In that Rex Rocket Wagon smiling big like they should.
They were all dressed up nice in matching cool outfits,
Out in the mountain air where Doug had Pee on his hat.

Pam was all dressed in a pretty pink outfit so cute,
Standing in front of our car in that really lovely suit.
With Kristi right there in her arms looking so good,
And little black Monet standing there on our car hood.

.

We got a good shot of Craig standing all by himself,
Just a bit dirty from working hard like a Santa’s elf.
With one of those fat advertisers hats we wore then,
Thinking they looked good when wearing them was in.

.

Mom was in hog heaven with all her grandkids there,
She loved to hold the two babies in her arms, I swear.
She would get one in each arm and hold them so tight,
While talking baby talk and treating them both right.

.

I even got in on the Rex Rocket Wagon action too,
As I posed with the kids when the work was through.
Doug had slipped off in back playing like boys do,
As they just can’t stand still so long with the crew.

.

The Rex Rocket Wagon was the best toy for the kids,
As they loved riding inside it as along they did skid.
They even brought books along to read on the go,
As they rolled along on the dirt roads kind of slow.
