Summertime Toons

Summertime Toons

.

I whipped out a few more bighead toons this summer,
Keeping cool sitting in my kitchen losing slumber.
Drawing very late at night right before I went to bed,
As those memories I turned into a toon with a bighead.

Summertime Toons

.

The “Dawg Head” toon was a memory of a boy so slick,
That everyone in the Low family now does call Nick.
When he was a young man he wore a cute dog hat,
With dog ears hanging down on the sides like that.

.

“Surfer Joe” was a surfer, now just look at him go,
From a song I loved by the Safaris from 1962 or so.
When the Beach Boys were big and leading the show,
Those were great songs from that time, this I do know.

“Roy” is a cowboy I remember from way on back,
That thought he was a tough guy who took no flack,
Picking a Prickly Pear flower with his bare hand so brazen,
Then feeling thorns making his hand on fire just a blazin’.

.

“Sherlock” is a smart guy who with Watson did hang,
Looking for clues to solve those crimes with a bang.
While wearing a funky hat so you really can’t tell,
Whether he is coming or going as he does his job well.

.

“Kamo Kazi” is a World War II Japanese soldier man,
With a very long sharp Japanese sword in his hand,
That says on the blade, “If you loose face on the mission,
Stick this sword in your heart at the end of the session.”

.

When drawing “Gabby”, I recalled a very old guy,
That ran with Roy Rogers called Gabby Hayes so dry,
With a big fuzzy beard always looking for that gold,
Out riding the range on his horse in the movies so old.

.

I went to see the “Barber” when I was a lad with Dad.
He had a long leather strap hanging, looking so bad.
He would pop his razor on the strap with rapid strokes,
Then shave my hair edges while Dad went out to smoke.

.

“Jim Bob” I used to see every four years back in the past,
Running with the Olympic torch not to slow or fast,
To begin those special games that I loved to watch,
To light the games torch with his long burning metal match.

.

“Little Jack” is a bighead toon I drew with some aid.
With Ben and Sarah guidance as that toon we all made.
They wanted a skinny guy with long hair and an earring,
Holding a live chicken with clown shoes that swing.

.

“Bobbie” is an English policeman with a big black club,
I have seen many times in front of the English pub.
He thinks he’s very special with his hat cocked back,
As I drew him on Pam’s birthday to keep me on track.

.

“Hanscreg” is a World War II German SS officer so bad,
He thinks he is superior too all other species, a real cad.
Kind of brown nosing the boss man to get a big promotion,
As he yells at the troops making a big old commotion.

.

“Big Jack” is a Lumber Jack whacking down big trees,
With his sharp double edged axe for everyone to see.
He may be kin to Paul Bunyan or maybe his Ox, Blue,
Or Heck, he might even be close kin to little old you.

.

“O’herlahee” is an Irishman I met on Shamrock day,
Drinking green beer at an Irish bar where I did play.
He’s holding a four leaf clover he found for good luck.
Giving us a nice greeting before lunching on roast duck.
