Recent Memories

Yesterday, Kristi and the kids came over for a short stay,
She brought Sarah and Ben for a twenty four hour day.
We had a lot of fun while they were here at our home
So I’ll tell a little about that day we had on the roam.

Kristi, Ben, and Sarah arrived here at 2 PM Friday,
Pam gave Ben and Sarah a little gift money for play,
And they headed out to Hobby Lobby, a gift to find.
Ben got a wood burning kit and Sarah a dog so fine.

.

The girls came back and left the kids with old PoPo,
Saying they were off to buy pretty flowers at Lowes,
To replace the ones the squirrels and rabbits did eat.
I was to supervise Ben with his wood burning kit.

.

Ben and I went down to my workshop in the basement,
And set up his new kit for him to use there with my consent.
We got him going burning his artistic designs on a pine slice.
He really did a good job making a fine picture so nice.

Nice job Ben with originality and interesting designs.

Sarah came down and worked on her bare dog some,
Adding eyes, hair, a tail, and dog accessories having fun.
While I played old rock and roll 45s on the turntable,
To expose Sarah to music on those great old labels.

PoPo do you have that “Be Bop A Lula” song you used to sing?

I played Elvis’s “Hound Dog” and she knew who sang the song,
Sarah liked “Cupid” by Sam Cook and she sang on along.
She had heard The “Lion Sleeps Tonight” by the Tokens,
And sang the de de de… high part with no words spoken.

Sarah’s finished plush dog she named Max.

The girls got back and planted flowers out front in a bunch.
They looked good if varmints don’t have them for lunch.
It was a beautiful cloudy day at 65 degrees, so nice.
It such a pleasure to have a family here with their spice.

These flowers look good Kristi. Thank you so much.

We headed on out to Luigi’s Restaurant for a touch of Sicily,
To enjoy a fine meal from the island just south of Italy.
The food was super good filling our little tummies,
It was a late Father’s Day gift that was so very yummy.

I had Sausage Spialoia, Ben had Meat Ravioli with marinara sauce, Pam had Cheese Raviloi with alepena sauce, and Kristi some kind of chicken in alepena sauce. Ummmm Good.  Whoops, Sarah Had a small Canadian Bacon Pizza with white sauce.

We headed on home and got real comfortable for night,
And surveyed our Video libraries for a movie so right.
Kristi had a new one on Amazon called “Fantastic Beasts”.
So we streamed it on Apple TV and then hit the sack beat.

The movie was a little different, but it held your interest well.

In the morning, we headed on out to Weeze’s Cafe to eat,
A fine place for breakfast that Sarah and Ben think is sweet.
Sarah got her side of pork sausage and waffle with jelly,
And we all came out of there filled with a very full belly.

I think Ben may be teaching his old PoPo bad habits.

On the way back, we ran across Bartlesville Farmers Market.
So Kristi stopped the car then and proceeded to park it.
We had fun looking at the fresh food they had in there,
And I bought baby cucumbers and red onions so fair.

Those baby cucumbers were excellent.

Then we stopped by Lee Lake and it was so very nice,
We decided to throw a line in and try them once or twice.
Kristi and Ben caught small fish using a special bait,
Of Jack’s Hot Link Stiks working well out of the gate.

Well what did you expect with Jack Hot Link Stiks for bait?

At 2 PM Saturday, Kristi, Ben, and Sarah packed up for home,
We were very sad that they had to leave us and say shalom.
To end our great day of fun with them once again.
But we will see them soon so we said goodby until then.
