Rapping

Ha, you didn’t think an old country music guy could get into rapping did you? Here’s my recent experience

Rapping

I never have been much of a fan of Rap Music, but we were visiting with my daughter Tamara and her two boys, Luke and Zack, this week and she told us about this new free rap app called “AutoRap by Smule” that allowed you to make your own rap song by just speaking or singing if you prefer what ever you want to say or talk about for as short or long a period into the microphone on the app. The app then takes your words and transforms them into one of several rap music backgrounds of your choice. The background music we preferred was called “Solos+Battles “.

My daughter Tamara, Pam, and my two grandsons Luke and Zack formed a group and called ourselves “The Slap Daddies “. We sat down on the bed in a circle and made 8 or 10 songs and we had a really great family time cutting up making the songs and then listening to each one as it played back. I was really surprised that the songs actually sounded quite good. I can’t remember when we had so much fun as a family being creative with everyone contributing to the final product. We all really got into this and the results surprised me.

When we were all younger we used to have these family hum alongs where everyone contributed to a tape recording of everyone humming along to the same song. This reminded me of that activity, but the final product was much better with the app. Give it a try, the whole family will love it, but especially grandpa and the grandchildren will have a ball.

Here’s one of the rap songs we produced in our session with everyone participating. Try it as a family, you’ll love it.
