Practicing To Be An Old Man

Practicing To Be An Old Man

.

When I was a younger in good health always on the go,
We were very busy doing all the things we did love so,
But even with all those things we actively did do,
I still practiced to be an old man some as we flew.

We were busy doing all kinds of things in our free time,
This was after work and on weekends as I felt so fine.
We were always off doing something so very fun,
This kept us so very busy always going at a fast run.

Just a few of the activities we loved.

.

But when we got home, I would practice to be an old man,
Usually in my easy chair without any particular plan,
Learning to get comfortable like I was getting a tan.
All stretched out in my chair laying under a big fan.

Man, I can’t wait until I retire to the life of Riley.

.

I got very good at dropping off to sleep in my easy chair,
Even though there were people still in the room there,
That practice helped me a lot when I got to be an old man,
As I still do this well in a room full anywhere I do land.

If you snooze, you’re old bowells will soon move.

I practiced on being silly like most old men often do,
By wearing funny hats and making faces then too.
Old men do it because it’s about all they can master,
So the practice kept it from being a big old disaster.

My friend John is a volunteer fireman.  I’m here to help.

Sometimes I got Tamara to sit on my lap back then,
So as an old man I’d be ready for grandkids as my kin.
I must admit that the practice helped me quite a bit,
As I learned how my grandkids should comfortably sit.

Rock a bye baby in the tree top, when……

I practiced sitting down on the end a big long couch,
Getting comfortable even when I might have to slouch.
As I knew I would often have to take the last seat there,
Which I find happens quite a lot as an old man everywhere.

I’ll just lean back a little more for some relief.

.

I learned to use pillows to support my future weak back,
So my back wouldn’t ache so bad from all of the slack.
But sometimes you just have to take the worst seat,
So you must do your best while you are off of your feet.

Hand me another pillow.

I practiced a lot on beer drinking in the easy chair,
To help numb the pain from a long time sitting there.
This still works very well so I guess the practice helped a lot,
For those occasions when beer hits the old man’s spot.

I love practicing to be an old man.

.

I practiced sleeping in my chair with the leg rest down,
So I could sleep in chairs where there is no rest found.
I covered all of the old man bases practicing well.
But still, getting up out of a low chair is pure hell.

Please stop that loud snoring.

.

I even practiced a little bit while up at South Fork,
Making my old Daddy stand while I sat like a dork.
Dad seems to be thinking as he turns to the rear,
“Why are you sitting as I’m the old man standing here”?

Come on Pappy let go of the dogs ears and I’ll get up.
