Our 35th Wedding Anniversary

Our 35th Wedding Anniversary

.

I bet you thought this special day was coming up soon,
But it actually happened back in 2008 under a full moon.
I’ll give you some back ground before I tell the story,
So you will better understand why it was such a glory.

Our 35th Wedding Anniversary

.

Just after I retired they had released “Dallas” TV series,
In DVD sets by seasons that I never before did see,
As then I thought night time serial shows were not for me.
We bought all 13 seasons the day they came out so free.

What fun we had with this family.

.

We both got into that show and knew everyone well,
Often watching it deep into the night feeling like hell,
The next day as we did our thing waiting for the next scene.
You could say we were addicted as J. R. Ewing did his thing.

Hero or villan, it was always so fun.

.

What a show we had found that we both loved so,
We waited 2 years and watched it over on the go.
So we were so familiar with Southfork Ranch by then.
The girls planned our 35th anniversary on a whim.

Southfork Ranch of “Dallas” fame.

.

We headed to Dallas and met in Frisco with all our kin,
And celebrated with a cake and champagne then,
Before heading on out to Southfork Ranch we all knew,
While living there with the Ewing’s on the show so true.

The 35 years seemed like a long time to be married back then.

.

The entry to the ranch from the highway was great,
Where we had seen all the Ewing’s turn into that gate,
In great joy and sometimes under the weather a bit,
As we had watched that great show with all of its grit.

We turned into to this entry way many times before we ever saw it in real life.

.

We stopped under those entry way trees near the ranch,
Feeling like we had come on back home to prance.
It felt so fine there in the shade where we rode back then,
Watching the show with all the family through thick and thin.

How wonderful it must be to live at a ranch like this.

.

The corals where the Ewing’s rode horses so fine,
We’re green and still beautiful with the passage of time.
I remembered so many times they tied a horse to the fence,
After a ride out on the big Ranch that was so immense.

Just waiting for Bobby to ride up with Pam and to tie up the horses.

.

We stood in the dining room where the Ewing’s dined,
Always drinking some of that very fine Pinot Nior wine,
As they talked about the day’s activities eating fine steak,
Sometimes hollering at each other to a good show make.

I’ll take my Porter house steak medium well.

.

We peeked into J. R. And Sue Ellen’s bedroom so nice,
Where they loved and had many fights with some spice,
There was never a dull moment as we relived the show,
On our 35th anniversary there at Southfork on the go.

Brings back old show memories.

.

We sat out by the pool that J. R. got pushed in many times,
At the family barbecues by Cliff Barnes looking fine.
What fun we had watching them back then by the pool,
That usually left old J. R. looking like a big old fool.

I remember someone jumping off the balcony into the pool during a house fire.

.

After our tour of Southfork Ranch feeling so very good,
We took some family pictures out front like we should,
To help us remember our own great 35th anniversary,
With the Ewing’s out on that ranch with our family.

What a wonderful surprise on our 35th Wedding Anniversity.
