Married 50 years,
.
When Mom and Dad were married 50 long years,
We had a special anniversary celebration for the dears.
Here in Bartlesville with our immediate family there,
As they had meant so much to us all over the years.
.
Married 50 Years
.
JerrylDine’s husband Pete flew to Borger from Bartlesville,
And drove Mom and Dad here in their car at their will,
As Dad didn’t like to drive on the highway with his eyes,
Mom and Dad stayed out at JerrylDine’s house so nice.
.
.
We set up a meal for all the family at Panekuken Haus,
With tables in a U shape here in Bartlesville south.
With Mom and Dad at the head center of our tables.
We said good things about raising us kids in their stable.
That’s Craig, Rhonda. Nicholas, Chris, Doug, Harold , and BuelDine at the table. Along the front were Pam, Bill, Mom, Dad, JerrylDine, and Pete. Down the other side were Denise, Deborah, Kristi, Tamara, and Elizabeth.
.
.
Then they served the good food as we visited there,
And we filled up on food and family talk with much care.
Then headed on over to our house to honor them more.
With cake and champagne and good presents galore.
Pam slicing the 50th anniversity cake.
.
.
Pam cut the cake and then Mom and Dad fed each other,
It was a little messy, but we all hugged one another,
As they had done the same thing 50 years ago that day.
How proud we were of them for making it all that way.
I remember doing this about 50 years ago.
.
.
We popped the corks on the champagne for a toast,
To Mom and Dad for 50 years together as their boast.
After we drank down the champagne together there,
We proceeded to present gifts to our special pair.
A toast to the 50 years of marriage for you two.
.
.
Their three children’s families, Bill, Craig, and JerrylDine too,
Chipped in together and bought them a 7 day cruise.
I don’t remember just which route that we did pick,
But we thought they would enjoy some R & R very quick.
Some pictures from the celebration that day.
.
.
Mom’s sister BuelDine and her husband Harold too,
Later decided to take that same cruise out of the blue,
Which made it more fun then for them all as a crew.
So it all worked out well, as a fine gift for those two.
Hope you enjoy the cruise Mom and Dad.
.
.
I had a walnut plaque made with a poem I had composed,
Etched on a brass plate as a very special gift I chose.
Mom, read the poem out loud as we all sat and listened,
As joy tears rolled down her cheeks and glistened.
Thank you from the depths of our hearts.
.
They received many more nice gifts that special day.
Before they all left the event and then went on their way.
The next day, I drove Mom and Dad to Amarillo town,
Then grabbed a plane and flew to Tulsa back around.
We love you all.
.
.
Mom and Dad hung that poem plaque on their wall,
And when they both passed away, I picked it up as I recall.
And packed it away for memories of them for another day,
We all loved them very much, what more can I say.
