Very Proud Parents

We vowed to get both our girls a college education,
As it seems to be required to make it in this nation.
So they went to Oklahoma State University so great,
While we paid all of the bills which were never late.

First Kristi went in with hopes of becoming an animal vet,
And changed to Wildlife And Fisheries Ecology degree to get.
Kristi fell in love and kind of neglected her work a while,
But after a small break she went back to school on trial.

Managing school and love life much better this time,
Working very hard making all of her classes just fine.
I recall she was on her way back to school from home,
And was passing a truck at 70 mph on a four lane road.

Her right front tire blew out and pulled her into the truck,
She hit the trucks left front tire kicking her away with luck.
Her car made 5 or 6 backwards spins down the highway.
And came to a rest without ever rolling over someway.

Kristi’s guardian angel was with her on the road that day,
She was shook up a lot, but wasn’t hurt in anyway.
I took her and bought her a new used car the next day,
Then she finished school and got her degree okay.

The car Kristi totaled on the way to OSU.

We were proud when Kristi got her BS degree that day,
Walking so stately across that stage on her way.
We took a lot of pictures of Kristi with her cap and gown,
Celebrating the event and then we went out to play.

Tamara was already at OSU working on her degree,
In Journalism And Broadcasting matching her personality.
She competed with her boyfriend for best grades,
Doing very well with all of the classes she made.

I recall an incident with Tamara while there at OSU,
She called me and told me her Jeep was through.
I asked what had happened and the engine burned out.
She said it was gone and there was certainly no doubt.

I asked if she had been checking the oil regularly,
She said she might have checked once, possibly.
She got an estimate for engine replacement at 1000 bucks.
I frowned and said go ahead and fix it, what bad luck.

The Jeep Tamara burned the engine up in while at OSU.

We were proud as Tamara got her BA degree that day
Walking so stately across that stage on her way.
We took a lot of pictures of Tamara with her cap and gown,
Celebrating the event and then we went out to play.

It was quite expensive but they both can now say,
I have a college degree from OSU that I got on my way,
And it will always be with me as I climb my life’s tree.
Being a fine upstanding citizen with a very nice family.
