MaMo and PoPo’s Pride
Like most older people, I love my grandchildren dearly. Occasionally l like to catch some of their character traits in writing. This is a poem I wrote a couple of years ago describing them at that time. Of course they have changed considerably since that time, but I captured my thoughts at the time. Write down some of your thoughts as you get older. It’s fun to go back and read them later.
“MaMo and PoPo’s Pride
Summer time is very near,
We dearly love this time of year,
What makes this such a special time,
Four dear things we think are fine.
What, you ask, could be so fine,
It’s Ben, Luke, Sarah, and Zack right down the line.
It’s our grand children we love so much,
So special each one with their special touch.
Ben, so proud, so brave, so handsome to see,
A master builder this lad will surely be.
He watches closely over Sarah his sis,
And glows with love, such a wonderful bliss.
Luke, so smart, so sharp, a computer hacker,
This lad will surely be a master actor.
He’s a gamer and helps with Zack in his own special way.
He swims like a fish, what more can I say
Sarah, so sweet, so smart, so cute, a living doll,
She’s an artist, a singer, a dancer and she’s so small,
Her mama calls her “my Minnie me”,
And she keeps Po Po in line with her sweet love you see.
Zack, so strong, so independent, so handsome you see,
A professional ball player he will surely be.
He’s a plotter, a schemer, and he usually gets his way,
An Entrepreneur he will surely be, that’s what we say.
As we’ve said so many times before,
Our grand children are so very special for sure,
So smart, so good looking, so gifted, and so great.
All chips off the old block, such a wonderful slate.”
