Lee’s Resort
.
In spring 2007, we had an outing to Lee’s Resort onĀ Grand Lake,
It was late April and I was ready for a long weekend of fun to take,
This poem recalls some good times on that trip with our family,
Our dog Cutsie went too as she was allowed as long as I paid a fee.

Lee’s Resort
A few years ago when I had only one small grandson named Ben,
I organized a family get together to Lee’s Resort on Grand Lake again.
I rented a big three Bedroom cabin right down by the lake shore,
So our family could all be together for a fun weekend once more.

Kristi, Carl, and Ben were there, but Sarah was not here by that date,
Tamara was there too, but Wayco was not able that trip to make.
Luke was there within Tamara, but Zack was still a few years away,
We cooked most all our meals right there inside as we did play.

The fish were biting good on that spring trip to the Grand Lake.
Lee’s Resort had a large indoor fishing dock for us all to partake,
And luck was with us as the black crappie and white bass were biting,
Tamara, future Luke, and I went to the dock first for some fish fighting.

We bought some small minnows and headed on down for some fun,
First I hooked a large white bass that pulled hard on his long runs,
It took me a while but I landed him right there sitting on my butt,
Tamara was yelling and screaming from deep down inside her gut.

Tamara hooked a large black crappie and the yelling started again,
She played him like a champion but she got up to bring her fish in,
We were on a roll and the rest of the people there were so jealous,
Because Tamara was so excited and was acting so very zealous.

We continued to catch those big fish all day, it was such a good deal,
But we gave all our fish to a lady there that used fish for most meals,
We had a ball that day, just me and my youngest daughter with Luke.
Catching so many big fish with our shiney little minnows so cute.

Kristi, Carl, and Ben came in that evening to join all our big fun,
And Kristi brought Ben down to fish our hot spot on the run.
Ben caught his very first fish right there as we all did watch him,
It was a very nice white bass that pulled so hard as he did swim.

We fixed breakfast that next morning that was oh so very good,
We had sausage, bacon, eggs, fried potatoes, and toast as our food.
We then headed right down to the shore of that very Grand Lake,
To see what kind of fish we could catch with spinners off the bank.

As I was casting along the shore line, I got a hit that pulled my line.
I fought him hard and was able to land the white bass just fine.
It was a nice fish that really put up a great fight making it so fun,
The large white bass and I looked pretty good standing out in the sun.

Carl was out there fishing down the shore a ways away from me,
I looked back at him and he too had hooked a fish as I could see.
He worked real hard landing that fish on the shore of Grand Lake,
I had to look real hard to see that fish as I did a quick double take.

We had a wonderful time in that lake cabin with family so dear,
That we vowed to continue to meet like that once every year,
I don’t think we’ve missed a year since we started the tradition,
And I hope we are able to make our tenth fishing trip expedition.
