December Pleasures .
.
I think December is a very special month for taking our pleasures,
Christmas usually makes us happy and brings us many treasures.
This poem reviews some pleasure makers for me during December.
Most of them result in memories that I will always remember.

December Pleasures
.
There are many things that warm our souls giving us great pleasure,
These are the moments in life that we have all come to treasure.
There are many of these feelings especially as we grow older.
Many come to us in mid December when it starts to get colder.

Being retired gives us freedoms we have never had in the past,
When it’s slow raining in the morning and it seems like it will last,
There’s nothing more pleasurable than “sleeping in” while it rains,
The soft rain on the windows seems to wash away our pains.

After you have been outside shoveling deep snow off the driveway,
With a chill in your bones as you come inside your home to stay.
Sitting in front of a crackling wood fire gives us pleasure so fine,
As we feel the warmth fill our body sipping on a fine red wine.

When the grandchildren come to visit us after being away awhile,
And they give us a big kiss and hug with their own special style,
What a pleasure we feel deep inside knowing we are so loved,
By the children that do so warm our lives like a light from above.

Putting up the Christmas tree with grandchildren is always fun.
With Christmas music playing as we trim the tree on the run.
Ornaments our daughters made brings memories from the past
Giving us much pleasure from present and past, a great blast.

On Christmas Eve, the grandchildren come over to open presents,
To celebrate Christ’s birthday with His Holy Spirit in our presence.
There is great pleasure for us watching their faces glow so bright,
As they find the gifts they wanted and treasure them that night.

On Christmas night old Santa Claus still makes his rounds so true,
Leaving his gifts for good boys and girls and for me and you.
Our special gift is pleasure we receive watching our girls and boys,
As they find under the tree, Santa’s presents, gifts, and toys.

Pleasure is visiting our daughter’s house for Christmas dinner,
Carrying on the traditions we follow not making us any thinner.
Congregating together with our close family on that joyous occasion,
With a home full of great smells giving us that wonderful sensation.

We always play fun games on these joyous Christmas Day gatherings,
Such as easy trivia to see who might remember just a smattering.
It gives me much pleasure to act as if the answers I don’t know,
So the younger crowd will think they have put on a real show.

Okay, which President started the “New Deal”?

We all have our little special things that give us so much pleasure,
They are likely different for each of us in this world we treasure,
So try to make sure the pleasure makers outweigh the sad makers,
And you will surely be very happy if you end up as a pleasure taker.
