Things I Have Seen

Things I Have Seen

.
In the many years that I have been here on this green earth,
I have seen many of God’s creatures here, and that is the truth.
This poem reviews just a few of the favorite things I have seen,
While running around in the great outdoors in the sunshine.

Things I Have Seen

.
Did you ever see an eagle soaring along up there in the sky,
With his wings spread wide floating way up there so very high.
And wonder what it looks like to him up there looking down.
With eyes that can see any movement as he looks all around.

Did you ever see a rainbow trout jump clear out of the fast river,
And catch a mayfly out of mid air as his shiny tail end did quiver.
And wonder how he could see though the ripple moving there,
And time his jump so perfectly to catch that fly out of the air.

Did you ever see a red squirrel jump 25 feet from tree to tree,
All sprawled out and stretching gliding in the air so very free,
And wonder how those skinny legs could propel him that far,
Flying through the cool air like a red bushy tailed shooting star.

Did you ever see a giant bull elk so majestic on a mountain side.
Raise his head to the sky with a bugle so loud that slowly subsides,
And wonder how this beautiful beast running free in the pines,
Could sing that inspiration song chilling you down to the spine.

Did you ever see an Antelope run under a barbed wire fence,
Without slowing down while running full speed looking so intense.
And wonder how he could get that low running so very fast.
Without even getting one little scratch on his furry white ass.

Did you ever see a huge mule deer coming off the side of a hill,
While you stood there in awe and watched being so very still.
And wonder how those huge trees did grow out of his head,
Looking so like a king’s crown with that majestic horn spread.

Did you ever see a wild turkey strutting his stuff in the woods.
With his gobbler going strong and his feathers fanned so good.
And wonder what makes him feel like impressing the ladies,
Maybe it’s a good smell that seems to be driving him so crazy.

Did you ever see a Roadrunner carrying a snake in its mouth,
With those feet just a churning as he ran along heading south.
And wonder when he’s going to let out a “beep beep” so loud,
While looking back at that wile coyote behind his dust cloud.

Did you ever see a horned toad shoot blood right out of his eyes,
Flying out a foot or two when he thinks he may be about to die.
And wonder how that little toad could loose that much blood,
And still run away down the road looking like he felt so good.

You need to get out there in the great outdoors and look around,
There’s lots of God’s great creatures out in the wild to be found.
So put up all of those electronic games and wireless things.
And get out and enjoy all the creatures that nature does bring.
