The Bad With The Good

The Bad With The Good

As I’ve gotten old, I have had more time to sit and think,
About all the many things my long life to me did bring,
Some seemed bad before turning good like they should.
One thing I know is you must take the bad with the good.

When I was three, my dog Freckles was hit by a car,
I felt so bad as I thought I would lose him for sure,
But he soon fully recovered, running there by my side,
Making me so happy again feeling good on our ride.

When I was about 8, my Mom had me working very hard,
Gardening, painting, cooking, and making old model cars,
To enter in the Phillips Fair, that I thought was kind of bad,
Until I got first place with money on all the entries I had.

I had 5 entry’s and got 5 first place ribbons.

When I was 16, my Dad bought me a junker car of my own,
That I had to work on nearly every day to keep it a goin’.
But my Dad loved to trade cars, so it wasn’t too very long,
Before he traded it for a better one for his own happy son.

When I started at Texas Tech, my grades were very bad,
Then I learned how to learn well and was no longer sad,
I also learned how to read the professors as I did grow,
And the last two years, I was on the Dean’s honor roll.

The first few years.after I started working as an engineer,
I felt bad as they were paying me big bucks every year,
But then I began to see the training they had given me,
Paid off as I was making those big bucks for my Company.

After I married Pam, she wanted to square dance so bad,
But I resisted hard thinking it was stupid and I was so sad.
But I took lessons thinking i would never be any good,
As it turned out, I loved it much more than a man should.

When we moved to Oklahoma, Pam missed her Mom so,
Then she found a job designing silk flowers on the go,
The owner, her boss Olga, became her substitute Mom,
And Pam was just as happy as a big tick on a scrotum.

When we moved to Houston, I had adjusted to the big city,
They offered me a promotion in Odessa what a big pity.
I said no, but they squeezed me hard and forced the move,
And I was so unhappy there that I fell into a deep groove.

.

I requested to be removed from that job that right away,
And they moved me into Process Engineering to stay.
I dearly loved that job as I could do my job my own way,
Doing process engineering traveling the world, I do say.

The last job I worked on was the Darwin LNG Plant now making big bucks.

.

.

..

It’s a shame there is always some bad to get to the good,
But this nearly always happens living life as we should.
So be patient as you travel though your lives every day,
And the good will come to make you happy not gray.
