Surviving

Surviving

..

Because of the current state of this great nation of ours,
We sometimes think that the future may not be all flowers.
This poem daydreams of one possible future for us to endure,
That I have discussed on occasion with Buffalo Bob to be sure.

Surviving

There once was man named Buffalo Bob who had the blues.
As he watched a lot of Fox News because of his political views.
He thinks the USA will soon go down because of our big debt,
With no gold reserve for backup, instead just Obama credit.

Buffalo Bob

.

So Buffalo is stocking rice and staple foods for when we drop,
And he has guns and lots of ammunition to protect his stock.
If this great country goes under and drops down on her knees,
We’re moving in with Buffalo to help protect the commodities.

.

In exchange we’ll eat our share and fight off the food stealers.
When the time comes we’ll load up the big four wheelers,
And head for the South Fork cabin to make our last stand.
We’ll fortify it and prepare for us to live wholly off of the land.

South Fork Colorado Cabin.

.

There’s deer and elk in the mountains in the Rio Grande forest,
And lots of trout in the mountain steams and rivers to harvest.
Potatoes grow well there, so a large spring garden we will grow.
We’ll cut lots of summer wood to keep us warm in the snow.

Wild game is plentiful.

.

We’ll pool all our weapons and set up a continuous guard station
To protect what we have built and stored in our own cabin nation.
Looters will be warned with only one shot and then put down,
Our own rules will be harsh to protect our own little cabin town.

The brown shack out out back works well with no water.

.

Buffalo is referred to as a future American system failure prepper.
He even has a stockpile of flour, salt, cooking oil and pepper.
The food won’t be gourmet, but it will surely our lives sustain.
We will all lose weight as our system will be difficult to maintain.

.

No more will the girls at the office be able to call him their Buffy,
As there will be no more offices with cute girls soft and fluffy.
It will be scraggly hair & calluses for those of the female gender,
From hard work roughing it beating meat to make it tender.

.

Electric power will be something we remember from the past.
With smart phones and HD TV gone away and forever lost,
Our time will be spent finding food and wood for us to burn,
While protecting what few resources we are able to earn.

.

We will revert back to the same lives of the American pioneers,
And maybe raise a few chickens, turkeys, sheep and steers.
Home remedies will be our doctors and our lives will be short.
Perhaps our technology progressed too fast for us to support.

Pock Pock Pock Padock.

.

We will lose all our body fat working to sustain our lives,
Healthy bodies will heal us and keep us from much strife.
Perhaps we will all be much better off in the long run,
And create new ways with which we can have our fun.

.

I hope the system does not collapse in my short remaining time,
Since this poem has opened my eyes and it would be a crime,
If we were to loose 200 years of the progress we have made,
So let’s all work hard to save the life we have made in the USA.
