Running On Low
.
There are times I really feel rundown as an old geezer,
And I’m surely no longer too much of a lady pleaser,
Because with diabetes I have very restricted blood flow,
So I can’t get blood to the right place to allow me grow.
.
(In all pictures herein I’m on my feet loving it so,
To illustrate I’m not really so awfully slow,
Just in case you may have wanted to know,
Before I do start this little story poem show.)
.
Running On Low
.
I guess you could then say that I am Running On Low,
As on down life’s road, I continue each day to go.
Well maybe I’m not running because I am way too slow,
But I can still get around on two feet, this I do know.
“Two Step Around The Christmas Tree”
.
Diabetes has been pretty hard on my own mobility,
As my feet are purple with little toenail growing ability.
My lower legs are somewhat discolored looking strange,
A guy asked if my legs had been burned in one exchange.
“Walking Away”
.
My feet continue to get a little more numb each year,
And sometimes I have pains shooting in them, I fear.
But I can still walk slowly on them around as I need,
And for that I thank the good Lord and medicine indeed.
“Swingin‘,
.
My feet have lasted longer than I had earlier expected,
And I often take them to a doctor to have them inspected.
As I never want to lose all my ability to walk standing,
Even if I sometimes have to take a fall with a hard landing.
“Just Fishin'”
.
My left leg calf muscle still has that blocked artery,
Which gives me much pain anytime I walk far, you see.
Anything over 50 feet and I have to stop and let it rest,
Slowing me down even more then, I really do attest.
“Monster Mash”
.
I still have that aneurism so I can’t lift too much now.
I’m still watching it to be sure it’s not growing somehow.
I just don’t lift much as I am afraid it could then pop,
Causing me to bleed out quickly and my old life stop.
“The Fishing Hole”
.
Although I’ve still got a few problems that make me slow,
I can still take some trips with the grandkids you know.
If I go with the grandkids to the Zoo or other places,
I rent an electric scooter and I’m off to the races.
“Window Shopping”
.
With my pacemaker installed, I now feel very fine,
So riding on the electric scooter puts me right in line,
To be Running On High again maybe faster that most,
For this I am indeed thankful and I certainly do boast.
“Take Me Out To The Ball Game”
.
Even though I now have a few little aches and pains,
I seem to stay in the sunshine and out of the rain,
Enjoying life sitting most of the time as I do blog,
Recalling old memories that often come to the Hawg.
“Reindeer Boogie”
.
It’s really very nice to still be able for me to enjoy life,
And not worry about those problems causing me strife.
So let’s all thank the good Lord for the good things,
That life brings us today making our lives just sing.
