Pete

Pete

Pete married my sister JerrylDine many moons ago. I have tried to capture a little about Pete in this short poem.

Pete

.
Pete took my only sister, JerrylDine, as his lovely spouse.
They searched and found them nice little Borger house.
From their love came Katherine Denise, a beautiful baby girl.
Later came Mark Douglas, a son ready to give life a whirl.

.

To 18 Stark Street in Phillips, Texas they soon did move.
Where Deborah Ann, another beauty began to groove.
With a family in place and his work three blocks away,
Pete was living a dream and from here would not stray.

.

I became better acquainted with Pete as I was living very near.
We often played contract bridge in their home in the rear.
Once I had a cigarette lit in the tray and Denise took a big puff,
She gagged, choked, cried and then said I’ve had enough.

.

.
Pete installed a trampoline for the kids in his back yard
I tried to do a back flip on the thing which is not too hard,
But I pulled every muscle in my back and felt like a fool.
I had to walk bend over at work and use a cane as a tool.

.

Pete liked to tell stories of his life as he visited with others.
Sometimes he told so many I felt a little bit smothered.
The stories were quite interesting and very fun to listen to.
But, after a while Pete sometimes repeated just a few?

.

Pete was an engineer for the Phillips Refinery at Borger.
He always was direct in his work and did things in order.
He had many ideas that saved Phillips lots of big bucks
But they rarely ever rewarded him, which really just sucks.

.

Pete and family moved to Bartlesville at Company request.
I don’t think Pete liked it so good, but he always did his best
He worked as liaison for the refinery, but often made them mad
Since they had to explain why they were wasting money so bad.

.

After Pete retired, they asked him to come back to work a while
He accepted an came back to review the new project files.
He had an idea to save money and said you’re going to love it.
They rejected it and he said .. “Then take this job and shove it.”

.

Pete likes to tinker with gadgets at home to make them better,
He improved whatever it was because he was a real go getter.
I told him he should patent some of those improved items.
He said the idiots wouldn’t understand and I’d have to fight em.

.

.
Pete and JerrylDine often grew a large vegetable garden,
They worked it often and didn’t let the ground harden.
They canned a lot of cucumber pickles, and green beans,
And had more fresh vegetables than I have often seen.

Pete and JerrylDine raised foster kids to bring them in line.
They were very successful turning them most of the time.
For this, the kids were thankful and some still keep in touch,
As fine citizens they helped with their life so very much.

.

Pete is a great guy who loved JerrylDine with all his heart,

They often took meals to people who needed a new start

The people were very grateful for help that they received
Pete said … “glad we could help, this is what we believe”
