In this day and time, things seem to take a long time to get done,
Perhaps, professionals, especially doctors, are so busy they run,
The best are in high demand today with our increased life span,
This poem describes my recent Doctor experiences first hand.

Since the doctors first found that aneurysm on my iliac artery,
It has been a crazy ride finding out exactly what I need to heal me.
First, I had a ultrasound run to check my old aorta repair job.
After six weeks, I didn’t hear a word from my Doctor about that blob.

I had a session with my family doctor who said she would check,
It seems my young cardiologist had been run off, what the heck?
So I got an appointment with Doctor D. to review the ultra sound.
The large aneurysm of the iliac artery was right there to be found.

Doctor D told me, it was too big to just watch and needed action,
He referred me to Doctor B in Tulsa which seemed a good reaction,
As he did the repair work on my Aorta Aneurysm 16 years ago,
So off to Tulsa I did go to see what was the next step, you know.

After Doctor B review, he said they might be able to put in a stent,
By slipping it into the artery from my groin area upward sent.
Then he checked the pulse on my groin area saying it was weak,
So he thought my iliac was blocked so the stent would not work.

The stent shown is for a blocked artery. There is also one that seals and reinforces the artery walls for an aneurysm.

He thought he would have to slice me open to repair me then,
But to confirm the required action, he needed a complete cat scan.
So I got a cat scan test run and sent it to him for his final review.
So he could review it and maybe tell we what I needed to do.

Doctor B’s nurse called me and set up the action review meeting,
For January 14 which was three weeks to leave me just a teetering.
On the appointment morning, I got a call from his office staff
Doctor B had hurt his back badly the night before and was off.

They rescheduled me with Doctor G for January 28, you see,
On January 27, I got a call that Doctor G had emergency surgery.
So I was moved to February 2, feeling like delays were a message,
That the good Lord didn’t want me to have surgery at my old age.

I finally got in to see Doctor G and he said the cat scan review,
Indicated there was no iliac blockage so the stent will likely do.
He must get approval from the stent maker that they do agree,
That the stent so placed will be adequate and function properly.

So on February 16, I hope to get approval to proceed with the stent,
To heal that ticking time bomb living inside me not worth a cent.
It’s now been four months since this process did first begin,
I hope in a couple of weeks to be stent scheduled for this to end.

In this day and time with all the technology advances so fine,
To get anything done seems to take so very much of our time.
I guess everyone’s so busy that you just have to be so patient,
And sooner but usually later you’ll reach your goal so God sent.

Oh by the way, my pacemaker is making me feel so much better,
In fact Pam has told me to slow down and not be such a go getter.
I’m holding at 65 beats per minute keeping my blood flowing,
In fact she has noticed that old “Duke” now seems to be growing.

She also noticed there is new hair growth on my stomach and chest,
I guess that extra blood is providing a little new fertilizer at rest,
To start things growing, but I haven’t noticed any on my head.
I may finally end up being a very hairy guy before I am dead.
