Little Blue Blue

Little Blue Blue

My favorite aunt, Bueldine, was a master at telling stories. When she told a story she put her heart and soul into the effort. I heard many many Little Blue Blue stories that would always keep all the kids just mesmerized. The one she told on the tape in Houston (refer to “Station SLOB” blog) was my favorite and I shall attempt to reproduce it below. I will add phrases in parentheses to help explain where necessary. Tell this to your grand kids, they’ll love it.

Little Blue Blue

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Blue Blue. She lived in a little house at the edge of the woods. She had a little table and chairs, a sofa, a little bed, a small stove, a refrigerator, and a cupboard. Blue Blue was getting hungry so she looked in her cupboard and her cupboard was bare. She said oh my I must go into the woods and pick some beeble berries so I can fix something to eat. So she put on her boots, her little blue coat, and her little blue hat and headed into the woods with her beeble berry baskets. She walked for a while and she heard something moving in the grass. Suddenly a large snake rose out of the grass wiggling his tongue in and out and said …Hi my name is Sir Hiss, what is your name little girl…. And Blue Blue said…..My name is Blue Blue and I’m looking for the beeble berry patch, can you help me….. Then Sir Hiss said…Yes, just follow this path until you get to the river, then turn right and follow that path and you can’t miss it….Blue Blue said…..Thank you Sir Hiss….. Blue Blue started skipping down the path singing a little song. When she got to the river she turned right and headed down river on the path there. She walked for a while and heard …..Whoo Whoo Whoo are you young lady….She said ….My name is Blue Blue, who are you…and she looked up and heard….My name is Wise Owl what are you doing here….Blue Blue said… I’m looking for the beeble berry patch…..Wise Owl said…..It’s right around that corner, but be very careful because there  is a mean old witch that hangs around that beeble berry patch…..Blue Blue then said…..Thank You Wise Owl, I shall be very careful…….Blue Blue then headed down the path and turned the corner and there was the biggest beeble berry patch she had ever seen so she started filling her baskets with big juicy beeble berries. She heard something moving behind her and ( long pause with silence, then in a very very loud witches voice)…….. Eeeeeh heh heh heh heh heh, What are you doing picking my beeble berries little girl…..Blue Blue said…..i need food so I’m taking some home…The Mean Old Witch said……I’m going to turn you into a toad……Then she grabbed her wand and pointed it at Blue Blue. Blue Blue had a mirror in her back pocket and held it up in front of herself just as the witch cast the spell. The spell reflected off of the mirror and turned the witch into a toad and she hopped off croaking. Little Blue Blue finished filling her baskets with beeble berries and headed for home. When she got there, she made some beeble berry bread, some beeble berry pies, some beeble berry stew, some beeble berry cookies, and some beeble berry pancakes. She ate a wonderful meal and filled her cupboard then went to bed and had a good nights sleep.

The End.

Perhaps, what Little Blue Blue looked like in the fairy tale world.
