Lines From Songs

.
This poem examines some special lines from songs of the past,
The lines have a special meaning so within in me they did last.
Perhaps these lines may not mean too much to others out there,
But if you read this, at least you can see that you don’t care.

Lines From Songs

“Drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life” by Bobby Bare,
Seems to be asking for help to keep us from straying out there
It utilizes football as an analogy for the singers small prayer.
I guess the song writer must have been a good football player.

“The big balls in cowtown” by Bob Wills could be just a little raw,
As it suggests the big bulls are hanging in Fort Worth for you all.
Just dancing around looking for some good looking heifers at the ball.
You have to admit, the words to the song we will always recall.

Big balls in cowtown, we’ll all hang down, Big balls in cowtown, we’ll dance around.

“The wind beneath my wings” by Gary Morris thanks a loved one,
For being there in the background helping him on his long run.
The only way he had been able to soar and stay up there in the air,
Was because of his loved ones support and tender loving care.

“I’ve got friends in low places” by Garth Brooks implies a broken heart,
Because his girl is marrying another that has class on his part.
But he thinks that he will be okay, as he has friends in the lowly bar
That will help him recover from the girl he wanted for his sta
r.

When you say nothing at all” by Whitley says no words are needed,
To tell someone that you love them when love is deep seeded,
A smile speaks to his heart and the look in her eye says I love you,
Such a beautiful song that will be understood if you have loved too.

“Lovin her was easier (than anything I’ll ever do again)” by Glaser,
Paints a beautiful picture that cuts right to your heart like a laser.
Perhaps one of the best songs written by Kristofferson to date,
Makes you feel the love expressed with the words that are great.

“God must be a cowboy at heart” by Dan Seals takes us outdoors.
I think that we all feel closer to God out there on natures floor.
The sun rise, the clouds in the sky, and the stars in the night,
Reinforce our belief that God created our beautiful world just right.

“I’ve got honky tonk amnesia” by Moe Bandy is about too much beer,
When you have too many, you might not recall drinking thar cheer.
I can recall not remembering much about the party in the night,
As my head throbbed like It was beaten hard in a big fist fight.

Tying knots in the devils tail” by Michael Martin Murphey is fun,
With fiddles playing and Cowboys wrangling with side arm guns,
They go into town to do some serious beer and whisky drinking,
Then lasso the devil tying knots in his pointed tail without thinking.

Get a rope on his back feet and we’ll brand him up some.
