John And Sue
John and Sue are friends of ours from our square dance lessons,
That we danced with for ten years at the square dancing sessions.
They were in our Mickey Mouse Gang that became good friends,
This poem examines some of our fun times we had in the end.
.
John And Sue
We first met John and Sue at square dance lessons in Bartlesville,
We had just moved from Odessa in the 1983 by our own free will.
They helped us through the lessons, showing us how to have fun,
And the next thing we knew we were square dancing on the run.
John and Sue were always there for us when we needed assistance,
Not once as we learned, did we ever feel even a little resistance.
We developed our own square with John and Sue, Bill and Pam,
Joe and Mildred, and Dale and Sandy and were the best In the land.

.
Paul and Jean joined us too to become the Mickey Mouse Gang,
Our skill as dancers and our name as fun seekers spread as we sang,
“The Mickey Mouse Club Song” everywhere we went to play,
We wore our own Mickey Mouse shirts, what more can I say.
M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E was heard far and wide by our crew,
As we danced and played having fun while our friendship grew.
We had started a trend and other groups began to form like ours,
While we danced at Conventions that lasted for many hours.

.
Howard and Jane joined our group at a later date as fun lovers too,
Now we had six couples that did so many things there were to do.
Sue was our planner and came up with many ideas for having fun,
We were all together doing lots of things always on the run.

We took trips to Colorado to ski on the Breckenridge slopes,
We took canoe trips down the river in Missouri with high hopes.
We went to the lakes for boating and Ski Doing in hot weather,
We went to dinner theaters in Tulsa and ate dinner together.

.
We went out to Honky Tonks and partied at times as a group,
John sometimes got a little out of hand on these trips with our troop,
But it was always fun and gave us something to relive when we met,
I think John sometimes ended up with headaches he did regret.

The Gang dressed up for a playboy dance at an advanced dance club we all joined in Tulsa for more challenging dancing. John gets my vote for being the best Playboy Bunny of the bunch.
..
We took sleigh rides up snowy mountains late in the evening,
To eat in a tent on the mountain, as good steaks we were receiving.
The temperature was below zero so we all had very rosy cheeks,
Riding that sleigh back down the mountain over frozen creeks.

.
.
We all enjoyed all the activities that we did with all the Gang,
John and Sue were always there no matter where we did hang.
Eventually we drifted apart with work moves and other interests,
But Dale kept up with all the Gang and informed us about the rest.
.
John and Sue organized our first Gang reunion at Grand Lake,
They fed us all and planned fun activities for all the Gang to partake.
We rode the Cherokee Queen Steam Boat out to a quiet spot,
And watched the Fourth of July fireworks looking so very hot.

.
.
Other reunions were to Palo Duro Canyon and San Antonio Fiesta,
We had a lot of fun but we did not have time to take a siesta.
John and Sue made these reunions as did the rest of our troop.
We were so lucky to have made friends like those of our Group.
.
We Love you both John and Sue, and the rest of the Gang too.
And hope that our time together is not over as we move through
The rest of our lives on this earth with our old age aches and pains,
May God bless both of you and keep you both from the rain.
