Game Day
.
My grandson Ben is playing football again this year,
For the Broken Arrow Tigers, Black, who have no fear.
Yesterday they played the Bartlesville Bruins here,
And Pam and I attended the game with Ben to cheer.
.
Game Day
.
It was a nice day not too very hot here for the game.
Ben plays right guard to block big guys for his team,
Ben is a very big young man and is so very strong.
Who loves to knock those big guys around right along.
I’m feeling good and I’m ready to go, so I’m heading on out to start the show.
.
We got us a seat on the very first row to see Ben play,
The sun was setting at 6 PM in the evening on Saturday,
When that game started as we all had on our shades,
Until the sun dropped behind the big stadium of gray.
The crew supporting the Tigers and our Ben that day.
.
Ben is number 27 playing for the Tigers in each game.
He looked good warming up out here with his big frame.
As the coaches got them ready to give us their all,
At the second game they have played in this fall.
Ben, we need to block those guys out and we will win today.
.
The first quarter was a defensive battle with no score.
There were some penalties that hurt the Tigers more,
As the teams battled hard to make those first downs,
But they couldn’t break loose so they all wore frowns.
Look at that fine block by Ben as the runner slips through.
.
In the second quarter the Tigers threw a long pass,
With good blocking by Ben and the guys that did last,
The pass was caught and run in for 6 points as we cheered,
But they barely missed the extra point as we all sneered.
Our Ben, number 27, is out there working so hard, blocking those guys out with all of his heart.
.
At the third quarter start, the score was 6 to zero,
As we watched Ben block those guys as our hero.
The Tigers threw another long pass and did score,
Making the extra point then to add one point more.
Keep up the good work guys, and we will win this game with ease.
.
The Tigers threw another touchdown pass so fast,
But it was called back on a penalty and did not last.
So as the third quarter then came to an abrupt end,
The score was 13 to nothing as we celebrated with friends.
.
The fourth quarter was again a defensive battle so tough,
And no additional scores resulted with play so rough.
So Ben and the Tigers beat our hometown team again,
And we were very proud for Big Ben celebrating the win.
There stands a very proud Mom, with her son that played hard having fun.
.
We took a few pictures with our hero after the game,
As he enjoyed his success on the road to his fame.
The Tigers have won all of their tough games so far,
But there is a hard schedule as they shoot for the stars.
Sarah and PoPo are so proud of Big Ben, for winning that game he just played in.
.
On the way out, Ben got a nice cold icy red treat,
To help him cool off and beat that old football heat.
And I think he was feeling so very good about the game,
As I’m sure he could hear us hollering his own name.
This ought to cool me right on down, as I enjoy being hero in this moment I’ve found.
.
What a fun evening.
