Fun With Craig And Rhonda

Fun With Craig And Rhonda

.
We planned a summer trip to Dad’s little mountain cabin,
With Craig and Rhonda’s family in early 1984 once again.
In late June, we headed to South Fork ready for big fun,

Mom and Dad were waiting for the families of their sons.

There was Pam and I with our girls, Tamara and Kristi,
And Craig and Rhonda with Chris, Nicholas, and Buffy.
And Mom and Dad all up there together for some fun,
So we spent the next two weeks there at a fast run.

Dad had moved an aluminum airstream trailer out back,
So we could all be there together with enough bed sacks,
Rhonda and Craig and all the kids stayed inside the cabin,
While Pam and I fooled around in the airstream back then.

The cabin and that airstream we fooled around in for two weeks, Heh heh heh.

We planned a trip to ride the Durango to Silverton railway,
We got up early and drove over Wolf Creek pass one day,
And on in to Pagosa Springs, then on to Durango to play.
Then waited for the train so we could be on our way.

At the train station in Durango we took a few pictures,
While hanging around waiting for the trains departure.
I had one of those fat hats on like we used to wear then,
So don’t laugh too much at how I looked my friends.

We boarded that train and found us some good seats.
Ready for that train ride which was said to be so sweet.
We were all hopped up, ready to get the ride started along,
As we sat there on that train for a time seeming so long

Mom and Dad sat in front on the left side which was fine,
With Craig, and Rhonda, and Nicholas directly behind.
Pam and I were next with the rest of the kids behind us,
In the next two seats enjoying themselves with no fuss.

Nicholas was just a baby there on that narrow gauge train,
Riding through beautiful country as diapers he did stain.
He seemed to love being outdoors in the mountain air,
While Craig and Rhonda gave him lots of their good care.

The scenery along the tracks may be the best in this land,
As we rode along trying to take in all feeling so very grand.
The river views were just spectacular along that great trip,
Buffy, Chris, Kristi, and Tamara had fun on that iron ship.

I had only one problem on that long old train ride.
The train seats were wood and rough on my backside.
Let’s face it, my butt got so very numb, I had to stand up,
To ease the big load on my very sore little rump.

Going back to South Fork, we stopped in Pagosa Springs,
At a restaurant to fill our empty stomachs with something.
Nicholas was so tired and being a little grouchy by then.
So I guess the long day was a little too much for him.
