Fishing With The Boys

Fishing With The Boys

.

The best parts of our life are those in which we actively participate.
Sometimes it ends up being more fun than you ever anticipate.
This poem is about one of those very special family days,
We spend time with our grandsons fishing, what a fine stay.

Fishing With The Boys

.

In October of this year we visited Frisco for Luke’s 8th Birthday,
We had a great time, with our daughter Tamara’s family on our stay.
We partied, and went to a Thunderbird air show and had lots of fun,
And ended up going fishing with Luke and Zack in the sun.

.

The Lake was right there just two blocks from their nice home,
We drove down there and unloaded where the big fish do roam.
We set up our poles with hooks and small corks with worms for bait.
And threw out our lines and for the fish bites we did patiently wait.

.

In about 5 minutes I got the first bite and hooked him to begin the fight.
The bass fought real hard but I landed him with my line pulled tight,
I had so much fun catching that big feisty large mouth bass,
That I stood up on my feet and got off of my old wrinkled ass.

.

In a couple of minutes, Luke then got a strong bite on his line,
He hooked the large bass with the flick off his wrist just fine.
And he played the fish like a champ and pulled him onto the bank.
We were having so much fun, that the good Lord we did thank.

.

On the next cast Luke hooked another bass not quite as huge,
He hooked him and reeled him with the special pole he did use.
Luke was feeling pretty good being ahead of his old PoPo.
But I told him, don’t worry I’ll catch up soon, at least I hope so.

.

I heard Zack holler, I’ve got a good one hooked on my line now.
And he was fighting hard as the big bass pulled like a cow.
He landed the fish and I could see he was extremely proud.
As it was the biggest one yet and he was floating on a cloud.

.

I then heard my daughter Tamara yell, I’ve got one on too.
It took a while to land because it was a big channel cat so blue.
Leave it to Tamara to catch the ugly, weird strange looking fish.
It was the biggest one we caught, so I guess she got her wish.

.

In a short thirty minutes, we pulled out five nice fish from the lake.
I can’t remember the fish biting so good on other trips we did take.
Such fun we had watching the boys fight and land their big bass.
We put them all back so the next family might give them a pass.

.

I think this was the best part of our short visit in Frisco,
Since we actively participated with the boys we love so.
I guess I’ll just have to eat a little bit of the old crow,
Since both of those boys out fished their old PoPo.

.

So both my grandsons have out fished the old seasoned pro,
I was very very happy, more than you can possibly ever know.
We took some pictures to record this great event on this day,
So I could write a poem about it after the end of our fine stay.
