When a person is falsely accused of some serious charges of which he is innocent, there is an urgency to get the situation resolved. Here’s my story.

Falsely Accused

.

When I was sixteen years old and living at home on Stark Street in Phillips, Texas, my Dad read the mail one evening after he got off of work, and told me he needed to talk to me. He had a letter in his hand and he ask me what the heck I had done. I had no idea what he was talking about so he showed me a letter written to him from the manager of the Morley Movie Theater in Borger, Texas, that said his son,Billy Ray, had beaten up an usher at the movie, cussed out the manager and did some damage to theater property, and Billy Ray had been banned for life from the Morley Theater. I told my Dad that I had not done any of the things that they said I had done and, in fact, I hadn’t even been in the Morley for a month. Well, this hit my Dad’s pucker string and he got a little red in the face and he said get your coat were going to go talk to this guy. We got to the Morley and the manager came to the lobby to meet with my Dad. My Dad showed him the letter and then said this is my son, Billy Ray. The guy turned kind of white and said there has been a terrible mistake. My Dad then unloaded on him showing him what a real cussing out was like and ended telling him he was thinking of suing him for defamation of his son’s character. The guy was cowering by now and he apologized to me and to my Dad. He said he would like to offer me 3 months free admission to any movie at the Morley Theater. My Dad said OK, but if it happens again, he was going straight to the lawyers. I was so proud of old Pappy that day for defending my honor.

This is the Morley Theater on Main Street in Borger, Texas where my Dad so galantly defended my honor.

I found out later the Billy Ray that was guilty of the managers charges lived in Stinnett, Texas. I did go to the movies a lot for a few months.
