Church Bowling League
For a short time, I was a member of the First Christian Churches bowling team. Because of my unorthodox bowling style, we were able to come in first both years while I was a member. Here’s the story.

Right after I moved out to Arroyo Verde in 1972, I was 28 years old and still single. My Uncle Harold asked me if I would join the First Christian Churches Church League bowling team. I told him I wasn’t much of a bowler, but he said that’s okay, we can use the handicap points. So, I became a member with a starting average of 115. Within a couple of months, my average had increased to 150.
My Uncle Harold who asked me to bowl on the First Christian Church bowling team.
I had an unusual delivery as I delivered the ball with my right hand and the ball crossed the middle of the lane and then would break back into the south paw side of the pocket. Usually I would be somewhat inconsistent with my delivery, but every once in I would get it just right and I would roll a 280. The members of the other teams always thought I was hustling them, but I really was just about as inconsistent as they come.
My unorthodox style of bowling always baffled the other church league team members as my scores ranged from 120 to 280.
I was in the league for two years, and we won the first place trophy both years, so I guess being real inconsistent is good sometimes. By the way, I was baptized in the First Christain Church in Borger at the age of 6, and I was married to Pam in the same church when I was 30.
