Blowing Hot Air

Blowing Hot Air

.

Sometimes it feels good to blow a little hot air having fun,
Other times a little hot air can keep us out of trouble on the run.
This poem reviews a little of my hot air about some real times,
While working hard to make sure all the poem verses rhyme.

Old Hawg Jaw once met one of the Dallas Cowboy cheer leaders.
She was so impressed with me that one time that I got to see her,
That she wrote a little love note to me on a small scrap of paper.
It was cheerleader Kay Boone, a looker for sure, who lead the caper.

.

imageI just love all those good looking Dallas cheer leaders and Kay threw a little love my way.

Alright, I was blowing a little hot air, but she did write the note.
Tamara requested from Kay Boone (Jones) what she had wrote,
As she was Tamara’s dance instructor in Bartlesville here at home
The previous year she was a cheer leader but she married Jones.

Old Hawg Jaw was in Nashville out at a Honky Tonk down town,
When I ran into Tanya Tucker and she asked me to dance a round,
So we two stepped around the floor with her holding me close.
While she told me I was a good dancer as with the music I flowed.

Well thank you Tanya, you dance devinely too.

OKay, we really met her at a nice restaurant where we had dinner.
Pam told her I had all of her records and to me she was a winner.
That made her happy and she invited us out for a night on the town.
So we spent all evening with her and her friends Tonkin around.

When I was in Vietnam I was working the desk at the Air Section,
When General Westmoreland came though and looked my direction,
He asked if I was happy how things were going on Artillery Hill,
I blew some hot air and said yes things are going good for me still.

.

Yes, Sir General, things are going very well for me here on Artillery Hill.

The truth is earlier in the day the lifers were going totally berserk.
They had us on police call in the middle of a war zone for work,
Cleaning up just because the Commander of Vietnam was coming.
It had really chapped my ass and made my mouth start running.

Pam and I hung around with Moe Bandy and talked to him an hour,
He was was a fun guy and he had a certain country charm power,
After we had a few beers, he went onto the stage and sang,
Pam and I danced all night and loved his raw honky Tonk twang,

Pam and I hung around with good old boy Moe Bandy that night at the Red Barn before he was a star.

.

.

The truth is that Moe was just starting out pushing his first record,
It was at Red Barn in Borger, Texas, and his songs we adored,
The Red Barn was a very low grade honky tonk with lots of fights.
Most of the songs on his record made the charts after that night.

.

Becky Hobbs sang for Pam and I at Denim and Diamonds here.
As we danced round the floor having a ball drinking our beer.
She sang all her hit songs including “Jones On The Jukebox.”
Which we thoroughly enjoyed all night long as she was a fox.

Pam and I enjoyed our night with Becky Hobbs in Bartlesville on her home ground.

.

.

Oh by the way, she was home visiting Bartlesville, her home town,
Where she was born and raised before fame she had found.
We loved that young lady and the hit songs she did sing here,
And after everyone of the songs, we all let out a great big cheer.
