Bill’s Baked Beans
.
Occasionally, I get out my apron and cook baked beans,
Not the hard Boston Baked Beans my Mom made so keen,
But the southern living kind which take a very short while,
That Pam loves so much which she calls Billy Ray style.

Bill’s Baked Beans
.
Today I whipped up my special Bill’s baked bean wonders,
In about two short hours, our home will be full of thunder.
We also grilled up some of those Johnsonville Beer Brats,
Grilled very well done, that really did hit that special spot.
.
.
.
.
I had some help from Sarah, my granddaughter here today,
Because she loves to cook as much as she loves to play.
So I’m going to tell you how we fixed those beans of mine,
To allow you to cook up those great tasting beans so fine.

First get out a very big mixing bowl of red, blue, or green,
Pour in two 15 ounce cans of Campbell’s pork and beans.
Add 1/4 cup of brown sugar to the beans and mix on in,
Then add 1/4 cup of molasses to the mix and blend again.
.
.
.
.
Drop in 1/2 of an onion chopped fine to 1/4 inch squares,
Then add 1/2 cup of ketchup and mix up everything there.
Now get out a 10″ X 15″ Pyrex glass baking dish so clean,
And spray the inside with Pam cooking oil for the beans.
.
.
.
.
Pour that bean mix carefully into that Pyrex baking dish,
Slowly letting the mix settle on down while you do this.
Get out 8 slices of raw bacon and cut then right in two,
Then lay them covering all the surface of the bean brew.
.
.Now, just lay those bacon strips there on the surface.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Place the beans in the pre heated oven on 400 degrees,
And let them cook for 45 minutes in there, if you please.
In a while, you’ll smell a wonderful baked bean aroma,
Filling the kitchen here in our state that we call Oklahoma.
.
The grill is ready now Kristi, throw those bratS on there.
.
.
.
..
.
As those beans were cooking, I fired up my Weber grill,
To start those beer brats a grilling with all of Kristi’s skill.
She cooked them to a golden brown so very well done.
Then put them on a plate ready for our big meal soon.
.
.
Okay Dad, the brats are done.
.
.
.
..
We pulled those hot baked beans from the oven so sweet,
And had them with the well done beer brats for us to eat.
We added some fresh sweet corn on the cob with butter,
For a real country boy meal of which there is none better.
.Ummm, Bill’s Baked Beans are ready and they smell so good.
.
.
Pam has got the hot buttered sweet corn on the cob ready, let’s eat!
.
.
?
.
..
You all should give this fine country boy meal a whirl,
Too kick up some thunder from your boys and girls.
I can’t guarantee that there won’t be any bad smells too,
As those bean farts will smell terrible until they’re through.
