Big Head Toons

Big Head Toons

.
Everyday I draw one of those big head toons on my pad,
Of whatever character happens to pop into my head.
I thought I’d put a few more out there in my blog to see,
As then you might find a big head that fits you to a tee.

I used to draw things free hand when bored sometimes,
One day I started drawing big head toons as a pastime.
Now it is a daily ritual with this old wrinkled ass geezer.
And the toons that I draw are surely grandkid pleasers.

When I sit down at the table to take my daily medicine,
I pick up my ink ball point pen and draw cause I can.
I use ink and there are never any corrections I make,
So what ever pops up there first is my very final take.

I never start over or throw a big head toon in the trash,
As my very first inclination, I want to capture so very fast.
My big head toons look similar in some respects each day,
But if you look close, each one is different in many ways.

I have found that the hats we wear doing every day things,
Often defines our character as we do what our lives bring.
So in my big head toons, you will see many hats there,
To define the characters that I have drawn with some care.

I also have fun messing with the noses of the little dudes,
There’s the rounds, the crooked, and very long ones too.
I guess maybe this may be the most prominent feature,
To change the looks of all the little guys that I do feature.

Of all the big heads that have so often popped out,
I think I do like the cowboys best, there is no doubt.
The Indians are quite a bit of fun too with their look,
As I put them on paper as my old mind starts to cook.

It takes about seven minutes to draw a big head toon guy,
So each big head is finished in a few blinks of my old eyes.
I give each of the characters I create a name right then,
Then date them for future reference, then I initial them.

After I draw them , I place them in a clear plastic cover,
To protect and preserve them for future family to discover.
My daughter Tamara has one packet she keeps at home,
To perhaps look at later after this old man is long gone.

The very hardest thing about drawing the big head guys,
Is thinking of something to put in the hand that looks right.
Often, I ask Pam to take a fast look to see what she says,
Should appear in the right hand to give them some pizazz.

I don’t know what drives me draw big head toon guys,
But I guess it adds a little to my legacy for others eyes.
Future generations may say, “why did he draw that crap,”
If they see those big head toons in my stuff they unwrap.
