A Touch Of Sunshine

A Touch Of Sunshine

.

Our granddaughter Sarah has been with us all week,
As lots of fun and good times we have all tried to seek.
We have had to watch a lot of those Disney girly shows,
With characters whose first names she always does know.

The first night Sarah stayed with us, a toon we did draw.
Sarah decided to draw a farmer with chickens so raw.
We came up with a chicken named Doodle, and Rodney,
A cool looking barefooted farm boy for everyone to see.

Sarah and I did all the cooking tonight as Pam was ill,
We had spaghetti and meat-sauce, oh what a thrill.
Pam said we fixed way too much spaghetti for us,
And we ate it all down after she made such a fuss.

Keep stirring that meat sauce PoPo.

We trapped number 7 squirrel when Sarah was here,
So we loaded him and headed for Squirrelsville out there.
He was the biggest one we have trapped on this round,
Hopping around in his cage like a big funny gray clown.

Hey PoPo, you caught old granddaddy squirrel.

On the trip out to Squirrelsville, we saw a big bird,
I thought in was a pheasant sitting looking blurred.
I snapped a quick picture, then we went down the road,
And let the squirrel out of the cage to lighten our load.

Hey, that looks like a pheasant laying there?

The squirrels usually make a long flying leap out,
When they depart the cage feeling so very stout.
Sarah was going to picture him in mid air a flying,
But she just misses him and I thanked her for trying.

Welcome to Squirrelsville, it’s time to jump into your new life.

The bird was still there when we came back on by,
When Sarah got out to take a picture, he did not fly,
But just stood up, clucked, and then walked away.
It was a beautiful rooster out in the boonies that day.

Hey PoPo, that’s not a pheasant, it’s a rooster. My Mom would take him home if she were here.

When we got back home, Pam and Sarah fixed dinner,
We had little smokies wrapped in croissants, real winners.
They were so good that we all pigged on out eating,
And those pigs in a blanket really took a big beating.

Ummm Good Sarah, those croissant wrapped Little Smokies were great.

Sarah and Pam cooked sugar cookies this afternoon,
As I sat and watched, I drew up a Bighead baker toon,
Every once in a while, I took a candid picture of them,
Working so hard with Pam barking now and then.

I just tried one of Sarah’s cookies, and it was yummy.

Today we went fishing at Bartlesville’s Lee Lake,
To see what size of stocked fish we could now take.
We ate lunch, got some worms and headed on out,
As the temperature got up to 70 degrees, no doubt.

We fished out there on the end of Lee Lake dock, placed there by the city so we could catch fish they stocked.

.

At first the fish were smaller that the year before.
But the blue gill got bigger as we brought them to shore.
The last blue gill were as big as my hand for sure.
Sarah had a ball as the wind blew on our fishing tour.

We all laughed out loud having so much fun playing with Lee Lake fish.

Tomorrow, Pam and Sarah are going to the movies,
To see the new “Beauty And The Beast” so groovy,
I’ll stay home and take a nap here in my easy chair,
To catch up on sleep I lost since Sarah’s been here.

Our Granddaughter certainly brightens our day
Bringing sunshine with her on her long stays.
To warm our old hearts and shine as she plays,
Filling us with all her goodness along her way.
