Grand Lake Reunion
Good friends find ways to get back together to relive old times and create new adventures. John and Sue organized the first Mickey Mouse Gang Reunion at their cabin on Grand Lake. Here’s the story.
Grand Lake Reunion
John and Sue organized the Mickey Mouse Gang’s first reunion on July 4, 1993 at their cabin on Grand Lake. John and Sue had made each couple a stake with an Uncle Sam hat on it to help celebrate the fourth. We all showed up in the morning and visited inside and on the porch of their cabin catching up and remembering old times. The porch overlooked the lake and the scenery was awesome. As I recall, John and Sue fed the the whole crew lunch in the cabin. Some old friends also came over and visited during the day. The ladies cooked up a game of bridge while the guys sat outside and sipped on some cool ones.

Some of the Gang enjoying the scenery, talking about old times, and sipping on something cool.
Some of the girls playing bridge and telling tall tales about the men.
That’s Bob and Barbara, some old friends, that came over to visit talking with Dale and Sandy.

In the afternoon, John took a bunch of us out on the lake in his boat. My daughters had come with us as honorary mousers. They went down to the lake with Dale to take their traditional annual swim, but this time it was in July and not October so it was more of a tradition memorial swim. They had a lot of fun anyway.
That’s Paul, Kristi, Tamara,( mooning), John, and Dale getting the boat ready for a cruise of the lake.
That’s Dale standing with Tamara, with Kristi still in the water after taking their tradition memorial swim in July rather that October. Not much of a challenge this year.
As I recall, we all hit the Barbecue place at 6:00 PM and ate supper together. John and Sue had made reservations for all of us on the Cherokee Queen Paddle Boat for about 7:30 PM. On July 4, they sailed out to a spot on the lake near the fireworks and anchored until the fireworks were over. The view was unobstructed, so the show was magnificent. Before the fireworks, we all had several drinks and did some two stepping on the Queen. Kristi and Tamara brought their clog shoes and they allowed them to do a couple of duets. The crowd on the Boat loved the dances. Howard and Jane seemed to be celebrating more that everyone else and they were getting googlely eyed before we got back.

The unobstructed fireworks display over the water. Beautiful.
