The Fat Doctor

The Fat Doctor

Sometimes people get so desperate to loose weight that they do things that endanger their health and maybe even their lives. Be sure the “Doctor ” treating you is reputable before you start his program. I was seriously frightened as the following story unfolded.

The Fat Doctor

In May, 1992, I had gotten out of bed, got ready for work, and headed for the Phillips Engineering Office. Pam was still getting ready to go to work at Hain’s Flowers. She normally got to work at about 8:30 AM. Along about 8:45 AM, I got a call from Pam’s Boss saying she had not reported in that morning. I told her that she was on the way when I left for work. She said she was going to our house to check on her. In about 15 minutes, she called and said she had found Pam unconscious on the bedroom floor and had not been able to revive her so she had called an ambulance. My boss took me home and when we got there the ambulance crew was loading her onto a stretcher. Pam’s eyes were rolled up in her head and she was still out cold. They took her to the Emergency Room at the local Hospital. After a while, the Doctor told us her potassium level was nearly zero which was causing the problem. They gave her a potassium shot and she came around to normal almost immediately. It seems the Fat Doctor that Pam and Mildred were seeing in Tulsa was giving them shots which consumed potassium in the body. He was supposed to be checking potassium levels frequently when administering the fat shots. We came to find out that the Fat Doctor was no Doctor at all, but rather a Quack trying to make fast bucks. It seems that one woman died and several others had near death experiences before they shut him down and sent him to jail. Although Mildred and Pam were losing weight, Joe and I decided we would rather have our wives a bit porky instead of possibly deceased.

Pam and Mildred about the time they were seeing the Fat Doctor.
