Two Steppin’ Heaven
.
Pam and I two stepped from before we tied the knot for sure,
Over the years, we got good at dancing on that hardwood floor.
This poem describes some of our favorite two stepping songs,
It’s a shame new songs have not been made like these for so long.

When Pam and I hit that honky tonk hardwood floor Friday night.
They played some songs that always filled us with pure delight,
As we smoothly stepped across that floor feeling so very light.
Especially on those peppy two stepping songs that felt so right.
.
We were dancing to “I Just Want To Dance With You” by King George,
Loving the music so relaxed just feeling so good out there on the floor,
At B T Bones in Branson, when a lady cut in just to dance with me.
She was a dance instructor wanting to learn our dance steps you see.

.
When we often hit “The Fountain” back in our younger dance days,
Three blocks from our house in Bartlesville on about every Friday,
One of our favorite songs was “A Memory That Just Won’t Quit“.
That Sammy Kershaw sang so well, we couldn’t dance enough to it.

.
Pam and I loved to two step to “Two Piña Coladas” by Garth Brooks,
That song had a special beat for our own special dance look.
When the beat is right, we just let the music move both our feet,
While we were lost in the moment flowing with that special beat.
Garth Brooks
.
George Jones had a song, “The Lone Ranger”, about silver bullets,
That we danced to in Houston at the “City Limits” and did love it,
Around that big hardwood dance floor we did so smoothly flow,
After free prime rib and a few long neck beers there on the go.

.
For a while, we danced at “Denim and Diamonds” on Highway 75,
To “Cheating On The Blues” with a fast beat making us feel alive.
Brooks and Dunn sang this real peppy fun two stepping song,
The fast beat was just right for us to Texas two step right on along.

Sometimes the two steppers club had dances at the American Legion,
With bands playing popular music the two steppers did believe in.
One was “Guitars, Cadillacs, And Hillbilly Music” by Dwight Yoakam.
It was so fun dancing to that real hardcore country song so wholesome.

.
Pam and I both loved that song “Living On Love” by Alan Jackson,
We danced to it at a cool steak house where we often did run,
To eat out on our temporary assignment down there in Houston.
It’s hard to beat a good steak and a two step as a true love solution.
Alan Jackson
.
Sometimes we went out to some pretty raw honky tonks to dance,
The jukebox had some pretty raw songs and we took a chance.
We played a Moe Bandy song that was perfect for the two step,
Called “That’s What Makes The Juke Box Play“, we can’t forget.
Moe Bandy
.
We dearly loved to dance to all these songs and so many more,
Most new country today sounds like 80’s rock, such a big bore,
With the beats they have, it is not possible to have what we had,
It’s a shame that two stepping music from the past is just dead.
