Tulsa Octoberfest

Tulsa Octoberfest

.

Each October 1990 to 1999, we danced at Tulsa Octoberfest,
With Misques and the Cuties fun clog group at their best.
Each year we picked up a Tulsa Octoberfest poster,
As a souvenir of our great times performing on their roster

As I display each years poster in the verses of this poem,
I’ll present pictures of the Misques over the years glowing.
I think you will be able to see from the pictures in here.
How much fun we had with those crowds that loudly cheered.

Tulsa Octoberfest

Octoberfest was my very favorite Misques exhibition show,
They always gave us free beer to get us ready to go,
Perhaps because we always performed in the Ford beer tent,
With a great crowd cheering loudly in a very happy sense.

After our performance in 1990, they wanted us back each year,
To dance for the happy crowd drinking all that good beer.
We started writing a special dance that we featured there.
Beer Barrel Polka was the first dance we wrote, I do swear.

We had beer mugs for each guy in the group to toast in the show,
To the big happy crowd who always seemed to love it so.
They always featured Misques at prime time on Saturday night,
When the crowd was wildest as they were just a bit tight.

We were a featured group at Tulsa Octoberfest each year,
And we looked forward each year to dance chugging beer,
We became good friends with the two MCs in the beer tent.
They cut up with Linda and other Misques as they went.

Sometimes we followed German folk dancers on the stage,
I recall one time we followed native Indian dancers, a rage.
They just didn’t seem to fit the mood of the crowd in there,
But we got them going good really enjoying their beer.

I absolutely loved getting out on that tent center stage,
As the crowd there always loved us in spite of our old age.
We could leave all our job stress and worries way behind,
And enjoy the moment with a natural and beer boosted high.

We wrote one dance to the tune Tritsom Yodel by Grandpa Jones,
That had a polka tune and real yodeling they loved to the bone.
It was a very fast circle dance with high kicks in the air.
That brought loud whoops and hollers from the crowd there.

The show we did for the Tulsa Octoberfest was a full hour long,
We gave it our all as we clogged out our hearts to our songs.
I know for sure we were the favorite group that danced there,
Perhaps because the fun we all had also filled the air.

Right after we finished our last clog dance routine,
We always did the chicken dance inviting the ,kids to join.
What fun we had acting silly with those kids there at night.
The kids loved it as much as we did in the bright tent lights.

After our performance center stage I always got a big bratwurst,
From the German food vendors in the tent for a big flavor burst.
My friend Gene and I both loved to drink that beer and eat,
So we were quite a team as Miaques with our dancing feet.
