The Yellow Brick Road

The Yellow Brick Road

.
Misques And The Cuties traveled to Sedan, Kansas annually,
To help them celebrate the Yellow Brick Road festival, you see,
We marched in their parade, then danced in the street,
Putting on a show they all loved with our clog dancing feet.

The Yellow Brick Road

On the big screen many years ago, Dorothy and Todo, her dog,
Were swept up from a farm near Sedan,Kansas, in a rainy fog.
They landed in a strange place called Oz, far, far, away.
Then followed the Yellow Brick Road with fun on their way.

Each year since the movie was released, Sedan celebrates,
In a festival called The Yellow Brick Road which is great.
They loved the Misques so much, we went back each year,
And marched in their parade before dancing for them there.

We had a special sign made to carry in the parade there,
That we carried as we paraded playing lively music so fair.
Linda and Pam always tried to find a ride in the parade,
To keep from having to walk the three miles we all made.

There was a real Yellow Brick Road that ran through town,
With names of people engraved on the bricks they put down.
After a few years, they gave Misques our own yellow brick,
With our name engraved on top that made our hearts tick.

Each year we had a spot in the celebration of the town,
We danced in the streets for an hour for the big crowd around,
We did all our fun dance routines for the people in the crowd,
With the fast songs we played turned up nice and loud.

To give us a break, Tamara and Kristi did a duet that was great,
Their skill level was much greater than ours on that slate,
So they really amazed all those people out on that street.
We were so glad they gave us a few minutes to rest our feet.

We would then dance some more giving them a good show,
We did circle dances changing partners along as we did go.
These were crowd favorites because of the music speed,
After three of these, another rest the Misques did need.

We had a guy named Vernon that could really sing good,
He would sing a fine song so we could rest like we should.
My favorite song he did was “This Ain’t My First Rodeo”,
With his deep rich voice, the crowd always loved him so.

After performing our show, the ladies shopped around town,
The vendors had sales going on with bargains to be found.
They had a fiddle shop with a fiddler playing there inside.
The girls danced in there to “Liberty” with their feet on the fly.

We usually spent the rest of the day up there in Sedan,
Enjoying the rest of the festivities there in Kansas land.
This was one of the favorite annual events for The Miaques,
As they treated us like royalty, the whole day through.
