San Antonio Reunion

San Antonio Reunion

Another of our Micky Mouse Gang Reunions was held in San Antonio at Fiesta San Antonio. Good friends make special efforts to meet again even years after they have separated and are living in different  parts of the country. Here’s what we did.

San Antonio Reunion

In the Spring of 1997, the Micky Mouse Gang had a reunion in San Antonio. We went to enjoy The Fiesta San Antonio celebration with all the crew. We met at our Hotel and had dinner together and then went out to the fiesta area and enjoyed a parade after dark. Instead of floats with flowers they had all the lights off on the streets and the floats were covered with multicolored lights. The floats were just beautiful. After the parade we walked around the fiesta area until we were worn out. They had mariachi music on every corner and lots of lone star beer.

Another of the beautiful lighted floats we saw that night. The parade was really fantastic as was the Lone Star Beer.

The next day we spend seeing the sights including the Alamo. We also did a little shopping in the area. I found and old record shop “Across The Alley From The Alamo” that had several Bob Wills LP’s that I didn’t have. Then we hit the River walk and rode the boat all the way down and walked back along the River Walk. We had dinner at one of the nice restaurants along the River Walk. They had a country band set up on one side of the River and seats on the other kind of like an amphitheater. We stopped and listened to the music show before going back to our hotel. They played a good fast eight beat song and Dale and I got up and did the Fred Shuffle right there on the River Walk.

We did a lot of catching up and Pam and I simply drove back to Houston since I was on temporary assignment there. We had a wonderful time with our special long time friends on the trip.
