Recalling Memories

Recalling Memories

.

When we get older, our memories from the past bring us big joy,
As we look at things we did then, we are now too old to deploy.
Meeting with old friends can bring back that fun once again,
Even if you’re not able to do the things now that you did back then.

Recalling Memories

.

A memory is an experience from our past that we often do recall,
It can be a bad experience or a good experience having a ball.
The memories are stored down deep in a special spot in our brain,
That may pop to the surface when triggered by joy or even pain.

.

.

.

Sometimes when we are talking with some old friends of ours,
One of those memories will jar loose and surface with power.
And we will talk about that special time laughing out loud together,
Those type good memories will always remain with us forever.

Recently we stopped to see Linda and Gene our Misques friends,
We talked for hours recalling the good times we had back when,
We clog danced together as “Misques And The Cuties” for ten years.
As we talked, we laughed out loud and we cried some real tears.

We talked about those funny costumes that we all wore to dance,
Out in the public all over Oklahoma and Kansas as we did prance,
We let out all our inhibitions acting so silly out on those streets.
Having the time of our life as many new people we did meet.

We recalled a time we were dancing at a nursing home so fast,
And our little noses were burned by a terrible smell that did last.
Gene and I blamed each other for passing awful smelling gas.
But it turned out R. L. was the culprit and that gas he did pass.

A few years ago, we met at Paula and Gary’s home with Rhythm Aces,
We watched old videos of the Aces clog competition with funny faces.
We laughed so hard as we recalled the fun, that joy tears did flow,
Back then we were wild and wooly and almost anything did go.

We looked at the Bulls and Cows in “Big Balls”‘and rolled on the floor,
Then the Babies from “Baby Sittin’ Boggie” and laughed some more.
There was the Hot Red Sweaters where the girls wore with big boobs,
With Rob chasing them across the stage in his old tennis shoes too.

I think we had more fun watching the memories captured on tape.
Than we did when we danced live on the stage on those old dates.
I often wished that we had taken more videos of us up on the stage,
And captured a more detailed record of our memories in those days.

Today, everyone carries a phone in their pocket that they use,
To make fine videos of anything they want save and not lose.
By storing them out on the cloud, they can recall them by a touch.
To recall the memories, they won’t have to rack their brain so much.

Technology may eventually end up making our minds weak.
As our memories are stored outside our brains for us to keep.
Will we lose some of our brains recollection powers some day?
And then loose our cloud videos, if the Internet does go away?
