Raw Honky Tonk Songs

Raw Honky Tonk Songs

.

There are several honkytonk artists that were very good,
Who didn’t make real big times like they really should,
Singing raw honkytonk songs that cut you to the bone,
Making you want to drink beer and two step along.

You may not have heard of these artists I do love,
Pouring their honkytonk hearts in their songs, a cut above,
That always put me in that old honkytonking mood,
So listen carefully to see if you are moved by them too.

Kenny Serrat was an artist with that country soul,
That cut a song I really did grow to like on a roll.
The song is called “Goodbye Comes Hard For Me”,
And it awakens my honkytonk side for all to see.

.

Johnny Bush cut the song “I’ll Be There” in the style,
Of a true honkytonk singer making me really smile,
As I listen to an artist that gives his music his all,
Sending me to a very special place feeling so tall.

Leon Raush sang for Bob Will’s Texas Playboys for years,
But he also sang honkytonk songs for drinking beer.
“She’s The Trip I’ve Been On” has a honkytonk sound,
That I do love to hear making my old heart really pound.

Norma Jean played with Porter Wagner as a start,
Later she had success with her own honkytonk art,
With a song named “Let’s Go All The Way” on the charts.
I love that song she did so well touching my heart.

Del Reeves was mostly into songs about big trucks,
With that special “Doodle Do Do Do” bringing him luck,
But he sang some good honkytonk songs on his way,
Like “Talking To The Night Lights”, I really do say.

Tony Booth had a honkytonk music style so fine,
Singing his young honkytonk heart out all of the time.
I loved to dance to his song “Cinderella” out on the floor,
Moving counter clockwise with Pam and the hat I wore.

Mel Street was a new honkytonker on the fast track,
Then suddenly he passed away and we lost a class act.
I loved his songs, especially “Borrowed Angel”, so fine,
That ran right on up the charts in a very short time.

.

Joe Stampley was honkytonker with a strong voice,
As he sang “Red Wine and Blue Memories”, so choice.
With a honkytonk style that put me into high flight,
Across that old dance floor with my feet feeling light.

.

David Wills had a song that was kind of a one hit wonder,
That I really did like back when I was a lot younger.
It was on all of the jukeboxes in the Borger honkytonks.
Called “There’s A Song On The Jukebox”, a real honker.

These old songs by artists you may have never heard,
We’re really good honkytonk songs, I give you my word.
But if you’re not really a true honkytonk music fan,
You may think “what the hell’s wrong with that old man?”

You’ll probably have to go to YouTube if you want to hear these old songs as they’re hard to find out there in the world you know. Take the time to listen to each of these songs and drink a few cool ones. You will surely head on out for some fun.
