Places We Danced

Places We Danced

During the time we did exhibition clog dances so fun,
With Misques And The Cuties always on the run,
We traveled to many places to show off our dancing troop,
I will discuss some of the places we danced in our group.

Places We Danced

In 1989, our first dance was over at the Home Of Hope,
In Vanita, Oklahoma, for the residents dressing like dopes,
With some borrowed costumes that I really did dread,
As I had to be a girl, wearing those tights of bright red.

Hey guys we need to get some new outfits. These tights are killing me.

.

In 1990, we danced for The Special Olympics in Tulsa,
To provide entertainment for kids competing as an extra.
We had upgraded our outfits by then looking so good,
Like our fun loving clog dancing Misques group should.

Well these costumes are a whole lot better guys.

.

We traveled to Oklahoma City in 1990 to dance there too,
At the Square Dance Festival activities with our crew.
I recall some of the girls got mixed up on one song,
So we free styled out there in that big arena right along.

Well everybody seems to be free styling so here I go”

.

We were starting to get a reputation in 1991 as we danced,
Around the area where they loved us as we pranced.
We broke away from T Town Cloggers, this I do know,
Dancing our first independent exhihibition at Owasso.

As I recall this exhibition was rained out just after this picture was taken.

.

In 1991, we danced at Toppers Camp near Fort Gibson Lake,
With new members and new costumes looking great,
I loved the short pant coveralls we wore down there,
With nice little hats looking slim and trim on a tear.

Linda always grabs the shady spot.

.

In 1992, we did Chili Fest in Tulsa under a big tent,
With Bud Dry shining right on through heaven sent.
I remember Danny and Jeanie stopped to watch a while,
They didn’t seem too happy and never cracked a smile.

Hey guys, look who’s watching us !

.

We did the October Fest in Tulsa that year of 1992,
With a few more changes to our costumes then too.
It was fun dancing there in the big Ford tent center,
As with all the cheering, we all felt like big old winners.

Hey Linda, you’re drifting.

.

The girls had “Hot Red Sweaters” for a dance we did do,
At the 1993 Tulsa Square Dance Festival with the crew.
They looked good with those hot red sweaters on,
And the crowd loved the song and the ladies boobathon.

Wooo doggies, check out those hot red sweaters.

.

We were getting so many requests to dance those days,
So we headed up to Sedan, Kansas, to dance up that way.
We made a sign as they asked us to march in the parade,
Before the Yellow Brick Road festivities dance in the shade.

Someones flowers are drooping.

.

We did May fest in Tulsa again in 1993 down town,
In bright sunshine taking away the big crowds frowns.
In was so much fun to dance when the crowd had fun,
Watching us old codgers dancing very fast on the run.

Linda, you’re flipping your dress too high!

.

We also danced for a convention at the Marriott Hotel,
During 1993 on a wooden floor on a carpet working well.
The crowd just loved that “Boogie Grass Band” we did,
So fast to the Conway Twitty tune clogging on a wooden grid.

Gene, I don’t think I can hold her too long, how are you doing?

.

We were invited to dance at the Governor’s conference,
At Discovery Land Park near Tulsa feeling so intense.
As we got free beer and barbecue after we did preform.
We felt so good performing for the prestigious forum.

Hey Gene, I can smell that barbecue cooking. Let’s get this show on the road.

.

We danced for a big crowd at the Washington County Fair.
As I recall there were lots of fine people out in the night air.
We got to look at the farm animals after we did dance.
Getting lots of compliments meeting people by chance.

That really looks like a happy group ready to dance for the crowd.

.

In 1993, we danced at Turley Days just north of Tulsa town,
We followed a very good country band so very sound.
As I recall it was very hot on that day on that street,
But we had a big crowd cheering as we clicked our feet.

That band’s pretty good, anyone want to two step while we wait.

.

We danced at the Taylorsville Country Fair out on a ranch,
Not too far from Stillwater and OSU by a spring branch.
We had a good time, but Gene and Linda went to jail,
And we didn’t have enough money to pay their bail.

Hey Danny,  I like these pictures where we get to sit down.

.

In 1993, we did the “Grapes Of Wrath Festival so cool,
In Salisaw, Oklahoma, on our Saturday schedule.
We all had a good time down there clog dancing hard,
On the concrete just clogging out our little hearts.

Gene, your Linda’s acting up again over there.

.

We clogged for the Kids Fest at Woolaroc on the stage,
Out in 102 degree weather in 1994 at a fairly old age,
That exhibition was loved dearly by the young kids,
As we sweated like hogs with those dances we did.

Somebody go find us an air conditioner.

.

In my next blog, I’ll tell you of a few more places we went,
With our Misques team that to me was heaven sent,
So we could have all that fun as we danced for everyone,
While entertaining them too sharing in all of the fun.
