Pets I Have Known
.
Since 1967, I’ve known quite a few pets so very fine.
I’ll take time in this poem to remember them in kind.
As they brought much joy to the families they served,
And in turn were loved dearly which they all deserved.

Pets I Have Known
When I got out of college, I bought my Mom a pup,
It was a black poodle that kind of perked her on up,
Dad and Mom loved that poodle until he died of old age,
He got fat over the years, that fine dog named Sage.
.
.
Sometime after that, a stray dog walked up to Dad,
Barking saying “Ralph, Ralph, Ralph” sounding sad.
Dad kept that dog naming him Ralph on that day.
Dad loved that dog with all his heart along their way.
.
.
Pam’s sister had two poodle dogs she loved so much,
Named Beejay and Tuffy with fur very soft to the touch,
It’s amazing how close a lady can get to her pups,
Loving them as much as her boys now grown up.
.
.
Pam’s Mom had a little dog she loved like her baby boy,
Living with her for years in Borger so tiny like a toy.
That dog that laid there in her lap, MaMo named Leo,
When MaMo passed, Kristi took that little dog, I know.
.
.
When I married Pam, she had a poodle dog, so small,
Named Monet (Monaa) who was loved dearly by us all.
She went everywhere we went and the kids adored her,
She was initially black and eventually got gray soft fur.
.
.
Sometime after we laid Monet to rest, the girls got a bird,
A blue parakeet that they took care of with no words.
I seem to recall the name of Peety, but I’m not too sure,
As I wasn’t close to the bird, but Buffalo Bob did him lure.
.
.
I bought Kristi a pretty Himalayan Cat she did love,
I tickled his feet a little with a string from up above,
And grew to like that cat quite a lot while he was here,
Kristi named him Rascal and he really was one, I fear.
.
.
Pam brought a black cat home from her work place,
We kept outdoors to give all the squirrels a chase.
Running them out of our attic, thus earning his grub,
We actually had both cats here at the same time to rub.
.
.
We finally had a dog named Cutsie we both loved so,
She went with Pam and I everywhere that we did go.
I became so close to that dog over the long years,
That I cried for many weeks, lots and lots of tears.
.
.
There were many more pets that I have known well,
But to keep this poem short, I’ll bid you all farewell.
I haven’t forgotten Kitty, Frodo, Roscoe, or Scout,
Or those new puppies Monster and Cookie, no doubt.

PS:
There was also Hank and Scooter back a while too.
