My Cowboy Cadillac

As Pam and I entered our two stepping years back then,
We were still driving our black Custom Chevy Van,
That we drove ourselves, kids, and cloggers all over,
Putting miles on our Chevy Van as an Oklahoma rover.

My Cowboy Cadillac

Buffalo got a Ford F-250 4×4 crew cab pickup truck,
With a long bed and power stroke diesel engine for luck.
I admired that truck so much and did vow right then,
I would get a Cowboy Cadillac when I wore out the van.

I drove that Black Custom Chevy Van until year 2004,
When the mileage hit 250,000 miles and not a mile more.
I never had that Van in the shop for repair one time,
Just routine maintenance and oil changes down the line.

I liked the looks of the 2004 Dodge Pickups that year,
So we headed on down to the Dodge Dealer on a tear.
We had decided to lease our next vehicle rather than buy,
So we were ready to give this vehicle lease method a try.

We picked an Atlantic Blue Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck,
With a 4×4, Quad Cab, and a Hemi Engine drive for luck.
We just loved the looks of that Cowboy Cadillac we picked,
With a 3 year lease at $400 per month, a deal so slick.

Our Cowboy Cadillac we leased for three years.

So I had my Cowboy Cadillac that I really loved so,
And I wore my old cowboy hat everywhere I did go.
With a western shirt and elephant skin boots for show,
And we went two stepping much more than you know.

I dearly loved driving the truck with that Hemi power,
When we went up to South Fork on our vacation hours.
That pickup would go over the passes so very fast,
At a speed of 75 mph all the way up the steep pass.

Running up La Veta Pass at 75 mph.

We leased a large cabin near South Fork that year,
With a very steep road on the back way on in there.
I gave that 4 wheel drive a work out on that fun trip,
Loving that Cowboy Cadillac letting my cowboy rip.

We weren’t  exactly roughing it on our South Fork trip that year.

That truck Quad Cab was very high off of the ground,
And MaMo could not get in without a stool I found,
That I kept in the truck bed just for her special use,
As she loved to ride in that blue pickup we did choose.

Come and get in MaMo, your stool is ready.

I drove the allotted miles on that pick up I leased,
But the price of that gasoline had greatly increased,
And I was only getting 8 mpg on that powerful truck,
So I turned it back to them in three years to save bucks.

I did have my Cowboy Cadillac and I loved it so much,
But I bought us a RAV4 Sport with a 35 mpg touch,
And have really enjoyed it since 2007, a real fine car.
But I did have my day in that truck as a cowboy star.
