Man Cave

Man Cave

Every guy wants to have a man cave to relax in and lose some of the stresses of the work day. I have a man cave that I used to relax in and we did a lot of partying in over the years. Here’s my story.

Man Cave

I took over our finished basement many years ago for my Man Cave. Most all of our friends and relatives have partied down there at one time or another. I have an old juke box that is loaded with 50’s rock, honky-tonk country, and southern rock. I also kept a small refrigerator stocked full of ice cold beer. When we started clog dancing, I had a floating hardwood oak floor put on the basement floor so we  could practice down there. We found the floor worked very well for two stepping at parties also. I also set up my 300 watt stereo system down there when we wanted to listen to a record or CD music. I have 2 Fisher XP-15B speakers with a 90 pound woofer in each one. When we became Junkers, I filled my man cave with beer signs and crystal decanters.

I spent hours sorting through records to find specific songs to record on blank CD’s. I would nearly always drink beer when I recorded, so we often went honky tonking when I finished a recording. We would listen to the recording I made in the car on the way. I also sorted out about 2000 45 rpm records and put them in tool boxes so they would be portable. I DJed several birthday parties and a wedding party or two providing country music from the original 45 rpm records.

I have pictures of Bob Wills and Ernest Tubb on the wall in the cave. Waylon and Willie oversee the bathroom activities down there. There is also a large picture of me two stepping with Tanya Tucker on the wall. I have a Stroh’s Beer, neon light I turn on when I go into beer drinking mode.

In recent years, Pam has moved in on me a little bit and put her a tread mill and a 32 inch HD TV in the cave. She watches old episodes of ” Dallas” while she walks a few miles.

I don’t go down to my man cave near as often as I used to primarily because I can record my playlists with all the music I want from my easy chair on Spotify and I don’t drink near as much beer as I used to. Every once in a while I get that old feeling and head on down there for some loud country music and good cold beer.

One time when Pam and I had been out of town. I went down to the cave and everything looked normal. I opened the closet door and there were about 6 empty beer bottles full of cigarette butts in there. It’s seems Tamara had taken advantage of us being gone and had a party in my man cave. They had cleaned up good except someone closed the closet door before they cleaned in there. Like I have said before, Tamara was my wild child.

Occasionally it got kind of wild in the Man Cave. Here’s Linda riding on Fred’s back like he was a horse.
