Kristi’s Flower Power

Kristi’s Flower Power

Early in the spring of 2015 our daughter Kristi was visiting here.
She was in a very happy mood so she bought a few plants I fear.
She planted them out front in our tiny little garden spot in an hour,
This Poem will surely demonstrate what I call her Flower Power.

When we first moved to Bartlesville we had a dogwood tree
In our tiny little garden spot in front lined with grass of the monkey.
The tree got nasty boring beetles that eventually caused it to die.
The death of that beautiful flowering tree made both of us cry.

Pam out in front of the Dogwood tree in bloom for the first time in many years. It was beautiful.

After we cut down the tree, a green sprig came up from there,
It continued to grow for several years and for it we did care.
For the first time this year, it bloomed again in big pink flowers,
I think this may have been an incentive for Kristi’s flower power.

.

So Kristi got some nice starter flowers and placed them in the garden,
After working the soil well where it over the years did harden.
She added rich soil and just a little miracle grow to get it started.
All we had to do was water and watch the flowers as they parted.

I believe the top two are pansies. The lower left may be a violet and the lower right is a Gerber daisy.

.

And so began months of enjoyment as we watched flowers blooming,
For a while there, the beautiful flower blooms were just a booming.
The beauty Kristi created in our little garden space was amazing
With all the beautiful shapes and the bright colors just a blazing.

Three roses and a single lily.

I think the pictures of the pretty flowers that grew this year so far,
Will show you why I think that our Kristi is a big Flower Power star.
This flower power that has been put to use on our Fish Pond Garden
Next year will bring much more beauty for our eyes to bathe in.

It’s nice to have family close with that special outdoor touch
To help make our lives more bearable, we thank her so much.
I ‘ve been thinking about raising some cucumbers and squash,
Maybe I’ll get her over early next spring for a big planting bash.
