Junior’s Jeep
For you all that don’t know, Junior’s a nickname I gave Tamara.
I gave her that name because Pam wanted a boy for her camera.
She’s grown up now and almost forty, but she still scares me,
When I ride in the car with her in Dallas in traffic so very heavy.

Junior’s Jeep
.
When Tamara got her first car, it was a Jeep Wrangler I bought.
The Drivers Ed class she took taught her to drive I thought.
But she had many fender benders keeping that jeep in the shop,
Raising her insurance cost while I paid driving tickets to the cops.
.
The old jeep proved to be a money pit from the day I bought until the day I got rid of it.
..
She dearly loved that black jeep keeping it polished and cleaned
But she drove like a bat out of hell, or at least to me it seemed.
So I would not ride with her because it was very hard on my heart.
She would hit those deep holes hard and knock from me a fart.
.
I told her not to take the jeep out mudding and it would last,
The first weekend she took it out and mudded all day so fast.
I wondered if she did that stuff just to aggravate me a little bit,
But, now I think she was just being a teenager and loving it.
.
Don’t worry, my dad will never know I went mudding if I wash it before I go home.
.
.
.
The jeep had a removable hard top that she wanted to remove,
As she thought without the top, the jeep would really groove.
I told her no that it would make the thing noisy and rattle a lot.
She did it anyway with help from her teenage friend hot shots.
.
She hid the top in the back yard and took off for the boonies,
With all her friends having the time of her life with the loonies.
When she got back I saw what she did and grounded her two weeks,
She sweet talked me and got it back in three days as I was weak.
.
Damnit Junior, I told you not to take the hard top off of that jeep, you’re grounded for two weeks.
.
.
Daddy if you’ll let me have my jeep back I’ll just love you forever. Pleaaaaase..
.
Junior was a bit wild and I do admit that once she scared me bad,
The police called and said your daughter a bad accident had.
We dropped what we were doing and headed to the scene.
She had missed a curve and ran into a telephone pole, it seems.
.
We were relieved to see her standing there getting a good talk
From the policeman and we could see she could still walk.
We hugged her and thanked the Lord that she had survived.
We took her home and loved her some more feeling fully revived.
.
She went off to college at OSU still driving that same old jeep,
I got a call and she told me the oil ran dry and she needed help.
She had burned up the engine and had a bid for $1000 to replace,
I said alright and she put it in the shop while I got a red face.
.
One time she was home to visit and we had a bad ice storm.
She had to drive back and in that jeep she did go in good form.
She was following her boy friend who had run off and left her,
She called and said it was too slick to drive, hurry to get here.
.
We jumped in the car and headed to where she was stranded,
I drove her jeep back home slipping and sliding while I ranted.
“This jeep is not safe so I’m getting this girl a new used car.”
Not too long after that I bought her a used Nissan, better by far.
.
It’s not a jeep, but it gets good gas milage and is a lot quieter driving down the road.
.
.
She kept that Nissan for many years and it was dinged up a lot,
I bought her a new ford and she drove it to Dallas feeling hot.
Without telling me, she traded it in on a brand new jeep again,
She didn’t tell me, but Pam let it slip and put me in some pain.
.
Today, Tamara and her husband Wayco are both driving jeeps,
They are the top of the line large models fully equipped so neat.
I guess Tamara knew what she liked then and what she likes now,
She has always been a very special lady, that knows how to wow.
The Wrangler Unlimited is really a sweet vehicle. Tamara’s is white and Wayco’s is black.
