It Runs In The Family
Our daughter Tamara visited our home last week,
Helping us do some things while we often did speak,
Of things we did together way back in the far past.
One thing we discussed was our imaginations so vast.
Tamara for sure.
.
.
It Runs In The Family
While Tamara was here she called home one night.
And told us her son Luke while upstairs had a fright.
He had seen a ghost up there that to him was so real,
I told her I could relate to exactly how he must feel.
Luke and the ghost.
.
.
Tamara then told me she had seen something too.
That just kind of floated across the room as it flew.
She was convinced there was really something there,
As she had looked up in a long drawn out cold stare.
Tamara’s Vision.
.
.
I told her that just last week while lying in my bed,
The room was nearly dark with shadows so dead.
As I looked across the room a shape did then grow.
It was a horrific monster with long teeth that did show.
My imaginary monster.
.
.
This frightened me so I sat right up there in my bed,
And turned on the light just as its eyes did turn red.
The monster was gone in a flash no longer there.
Just a figment of my vivid imagination , I do swear.
Gone in a flash.
.
.
We started talking of things we imagined as kids,
Discussing our young lives and the things we did.
She said she often saw things in her room at night,
Scaring her when in her room with very little light.
Tamara a while back.
.
.
I remembered many times she got in bed with us.
In the middle of the night kind of making a big fuss.
As she crawled in between us saying she was scared.
While we told her we loved her and for her really cared.
.
She said that back then her imagination was wild,
Sometimes running rampant when she was a child.
I replied that mine was the wildest when I was five,
And told her some stories about that time in my life.
Hey Tamara, who imagined this guy, me or you?
.
.
.
.
..
.
I imagined a rattlesnake lived in my room back then,
That struck out at me when I got up to pee so often,
There was also an imaginary tarantula there sometimes,
Ready to sink his fangs in my foot such a bad crime.
The rattlesnake, tarantula, and me.
.
.
There was a life sized devil I conjured up on one occasion.
That scared me real bad there in my room location.
I was able to fend him off and keep him far away,
By kneeling down right there and starting to pray.
The Full sized Devil
.
.
I also imagined up a strong guy I called my “Keeper”.
To protect me there in my room when I was a sleeper.
He stayed with me until my imagination toned down,
Until I no longer needed him to keep away the frowns.
Two versions of my “Keeper” and me.
.
.
So I guess a very vivid imagination runs in the family,
And I surely don’t think it is a detrimental thing, you see.
As it makes life more interesting with a little spice,
If you let your imagination run loose once or twice.
Tamara you’re at it again
