I Love You

I Love You

.

Never under estimate three little words great value,
The words we all need to hear often are “I Love You”.
These words let those we love know how we do feel,
And lets them know often that our feelings are real.

When I was a young boy I watched my father close,
As he was my hero and my model for life that I choose.
Some of the things he did that I tried were not good.
But for the most part, my model did just what he should.

One area in which I think that my father failed miserably,
Was he never once said the words “I Love You” to me.
Consequently, I had trouble saying the words too.
As into a man from a young boy I so rapidly grew.

I knew my father loved me from the good things he did,
So I guess I began to think the words were not required.
When my father turned 80, he started saying “I Love You”
I guess life taught him the words are necessary too.

I Love You.

My Mom on the other hand said “I Love You” all the time,
Perhaps I got the impression for Moms it was fine,
But for men it was not a very manly thing to do then.
I wonder why Pam ever agreed to marry me without them.

When I married Pam she said the words often to me,
But I still had trouble saying the words out loud you see.
When Kristi came along I learned the words are necessary,
And they started coming out much more freely for me.

I do love you.

Then Tamara came along and more love from me did flow,
Over the years I figured out my Dad was wrong you know,
And I now say “I Love You” quite often as I live life right,
As it makes me feel good and makes life so bright.

Each time I see my daughters and my grandchildren,
I tell them I love them so there is never any doubt within.
I often tell our good friends I love them when we talk,
So I have a few words of advice as down your life you walk.

Our grandchildren are very loving  with “I Love Yous” out the kazoo.

Tell those you care deeply about that you love them,
Out loud for everyone to hear and tell them very often.
And there will be much more joy as you live life fully,
So to all my friends and family ” I Love You” truly.
