Hank Williams Relics
.
When I was an old vinyl record picker a while ago,
I often found 78 rpm Hank William’s singles so old.
They were all on the yellow MGM label so very bright,
I remembered nearly all the old songs at first sight.
.
Hank Williams Relics
.
Hank recorded as “Luke The Drifter” when he did start,
So this first old 78 record illustrates his singing art,
I don’t remember these two songs from so long ago,
But the voice is unmistakeable so his popularity did grow.
.
.
The next two records had great songs on front and back.
“Jambalaya” and “Window Shopping” were both Cadillacs.
“Howlin’ At The Moon” and “I Can’t Help It” are great,
Such good music made back on those early dates.
.
.
“Hey Good Lookin'” and “My Heart Would Know”
On the next record were also big hits for Hank’s show.
“Lovesick Blues” was a favorite that we all did love,
And “Never Again” was a song that was also a cut above.
.
.
I can hear that old “Lonesome Whistle” blow in the wind,
As my “Crazy Heart” to you a message did send.
If you love me “Half As Much” as I really do love you,
“Let’s Turn Back The Years” and see this on through.
.
.
“I’ve got those “Long Gone Lonesome Blues” today,
Because “My Son Calls Another Man Daddy”, I say.
Giving me those “Weary Blues From Waiting” another day,
As “I Can’t Escape From You” and your rotten ways.
.
.
“Take These Chains From My Heart” and let me go,
As I have always been a “Ramblin’ Man” on the road.
I know that “I Will Never Get Out Of This World Alive”
And “I Could Never Be Ashamed Of You” if I tried.
.
.
Even though you think I save all “My Love For You”,
“I Won’t Be Home No More” so I guess we’re through.
I’ll be out there “Settin’ The Woods On Fire” a while,
So don’t think that “You Win Again” as I go out in style.
.
.
Sometimes Hank’s wife Audrey sang along with Hank,
But she just wasn’t in the same class, I don’t think,
So you’ve probably never heard either of these songs,
I think Audrey pressured Hank to let her sing along.
.
.
These old records seem so cool from long in the past,
When Hank Williams went from a drifter to a star so fast.
They’re a small piece of our country music history,
For collectors to keep and share in blogs like me.
